Earlier this morning, I spoke to a woman I haven't seen in a while. She asked after my husband; she hadn't heard he passed away.
She said that her mother still had some bad days, even though her dad has been gone nearly 7 years. Her mom recently told her, "It's still hard to forget a lot of things, but it's getting easier to REMEMBER." I took that to mean that she can finally sift through the memories and enjoy them and laugh, instead of being mournful that your loved one is not there to share the memory with you. Does that make sense to anyone? |

The lady I am a companion for , lost her hubby 3 years ago. That is when her dementia began.
We do alot of talking. So much about her hubby and her children. All she recalls is the past so that is where we direct our conversation. She misses him terribly.I know , many times , she is dreaming of his presence and why she wants to stay a sleep. Sad to watch such a lovely person lost on time. But she is still very sharp with common sense and able to do all for her self. When I take her out she is so good with people. In so many ways she reminds me of myself in certain areas. I know she wishes I would leave her sllep , but she never gets mad at me or use harsh words.Very much in control of much of her thought process when it comes to dealing with people |

Dons wife, that makes so much sense to me.The memories are allowing her to get past some of the sorrow.
Bless her heart |
