Jazzie, wonderful service you are offering to those in need. The one thing people need to to feel you are truly wanting to help them a much as possible. They may need guidances to other services available to them. They need to have someone show the patient and caregiver understanding and genuine compassion. The one afflicted may need company to deal with the times the caregiver is dealing with the every day chores.Help them to find the best way to deal with the physical or mental problem of the afflicted.Let the time made available be quality time and care.Become familiar with the total picture of the persons involved with the afflicted.Address the persons with the dignity they deserve and need and not appear to be all professional.See the people as human beings and not a number and a price tag.Show them they can trust in your ability to help them .When you feel the persons need to be informed of a better way of doing things, be tactfull.I say this because so many give their best and to think other wise can be very self defeating for them.Have all informaion, you feel, would help them at your finger tips. This may sound synical but leave your ego at the door.A service is not about the one giving it but the one who seeks to receive it.Learn to deal with another second guessing something you suggest.Have the confidence in your self to not see anothers questioning your abilities as something against you.Be genuine.Do not be afraid to step on toes when you feel it is warranted .If you are giving this service because you tuly care then you will be fine.

Oh, the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person, having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all out, just as they are, chaff and grain together, certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keeping what is worth keeping, and with a breath of kindness blowing the rest away.
