My mother has AD which began about age 53-54, she is now very end stage living in a nursing home. My maternal grandmother also had EOAD. I am looking for information about research/genetics on third generation EOAD. I live in Australia but would appreciate anyone's advice on this. Please anyone in a similar situation contact me.

Hi Cara,
I'm sorry I don't any info for you I just saw your name and wanted to say that my daughter's name is Cara also. I am glad that you are interested enough to do the research into your mother's and granmother's disease. My daughter doesn't seem to want to have anything to do with it. She will bring the new grandbaby by once in awhile but mainly just so I can see her. She doesn't want to spend any time at all with just her mother. She is adopted so I suppose she doesn't feel threatened by what my wife is facing but I would have hoped she would have felt more for her mother than she does. Oh well, I can't force a bond that isn't there anymore. My son on the other hand, might have to be a little more concerned. He is a natural born and is carrying his mother's genes. He does a little for us but not a lot. He is studying to be a chef and will cook once in a while but it is like a month or two between. My wife has EOAD and as best we can figure it started when she was about 48. She is 55 now and I would guess in about stage 6. I only pray that someday they will find a cure for this dreadful disease. Unfortunately it will be too late for us. My wife will never know her grandkids. Billy G |
