I've seen lots of great advice, encouragement, and a wonderful sense of community here.

I am new to this site, but not to dementia. I'm a nurse with many years working with dementia patients and residents.

Dementia care can be challenging, frustrating, humorous, frightening... and rewarding. As a nurse, I'd just like to throw my hat in here and add a small voice to the many others already present.

Thanks for the welcome to all of you.

I like Bobcat's quote:

quote:
We specialize in reminding each other to BREATHE.

Moms_buddy: I like your attitude.

And fulltimemartins, yes, Belhaven is on the east coast. The community of Pamlico Beach. I'm actually fishing tonight with my flounder net right off my front yard, hoping for more speckled sea trout, flounder, or sheep's head.

But I'm in Charlotte, Wilkesboro, Greensboro, Winston, and other places throughout the state every month seeing some dementia folks.

Hi Ron. I look forward to learning about you and look forward to anything you have to offer to help us/me. I believe Belhaven is in the eastern part of the state? I am in western, between Charlotte and Asheville, although we used to spend alot of time at the Outer Banks, which I believe is closer to you.

Welcome, Ron! Always good to have some professional input for sure! Home caregiving is so different from facility care, but home caregivers can learn a lot of shortcuts and patient "handling" ideas from folks who have cared for so many! Smile

Welcome to ECO, Ron, I saw you on board and recognized you as a newcomer. We need all the help we can get. We have another member from NC, Fulltimemartins (Bev) I am from just a bit north of you. We specialize in reminding each other to BREATHE.

We are one of the oldest communities of this type, about 10 years I think. I have been around over 2. Greetings

Bobcat
