MY mother in law is 92, bedridden, terminal dementia. My husband is a only child, adopted and times were not always easy between them, BUT, he only wants his mom taken care of. My husband is a good person, man of his word. His mom may not know his name, but she smiles when she sees his face (we go down every other week end, we were going every weekend, but that was getting to hard on us). We appreciate you ( Beverly, Karen F, May and Gyspy) taking the time to reply. Thank you Smile

Hi, Mickey ......... You've had a heck of a time, haven't you? This is sad!

I don't mean this to sound "cold", but if your husband's mother has what you refer to as terminal dementia, how would she really "know" where she is living? Gosh, that still didn't come out right! I'm sorry.

It's just that y'all have had a heck of a time with her so-called caregivers and the monetary situation(s). Could you move her to an assisted living facility close to you and your husband? Could just be that the money saved by not having EVIL caregivers, plus the gas $$ saved by your husband and you traveling to visit might zero out the ALF monthly rate.

Do take care and please consider checking into a facility closer to you and your husband.

Good luck and God speed ......

Mickey, to have a man of his word speaks volumes of him.My mother did not always know me by name but she responded to my smiles and there was a sense about me she always reconized.Even the day before she passed. You are doing an excellent job by having time for her and assuring her well being. That is all one can ask when distance is a problem.
