I'm hoping an edit will make this current. Look at the index page at least to see what is here. Info for people new to here Some of you may remember me posting a link to Beth Israel Medical Center--giving instructions for ordering a FREE Resource Guide---which comes in a loose-leaf note book- a 3 ring binder format. They have now posted the notebook sections on their web site http://www.stoppain.org The first link here will take you to the page to order the notebook. The second link is to the index page where you can click on the other sections to get to the information in pdf format. The rest of the links are to the sections in pdf format ---I Have NO connection with this institution---I'm just sending this information along for the members benefit---especially those new to caregiving. Though there is no section yet for Alzheimer's Disease---the other section pretty generic information for all caregivers. Enjoy--Hope it is useful Jim http://www.stoppain.org/caregivers/resource_form.html http://www.stoppain.org/caregivers/index.html http://www.stoppain.org/caregivers/pdf/1-nowyouareacaregiver.pdf http://www.stoppain.org/caregivers/pdf/2-navagatingthesystem.pdf http://www.stoppain.org/caregivers/pdf/3-symtommanagement.pdf http://www.stoppain.org/caregivers/pdf/4-goalsofcare.pdf http://www.stoppain.org/caregivers/pdf/5-youhaveneedstoo.pdf http://www.stoppain.org/caregivers/pdf/6-spec_illness-aids.pdf http://www.stoppain.org/caregivers/pdf/7-wheretofindhelp.pdf Use today wisely, It's the only one we get. Quoting Penny from another room
quote: My reply to her Needing Help Hi Penny, I t looks like you ahve your hands full right now. Your tone sounds very desperate--Since you have not indicated what, if any steps you have taken to look for help, I'm listing the results I got for a search of your zip code under the http://www.eldercare.gov/ Eldercare Locator Search Results Printable page Search results for zip code 48135: Information and Referral The Senior Alliance 3850 Second Street Suite 201 Wayne, MI 48184 Business Phone # : (734) 722-2830 Contact Phone # : (734) 722-2830 Email: senior_alliance@state.mi.us Web page: www.aaalc.org -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area Agency on Aging The Senior Alliance/Area Agency on Aging 1-C 3850 Second Street Suite 201 Wayne, MI 48184 Business Phone # : (734) 722-2830 Contact Phone # : (734) 722-2830 Email: senior_alliance@state.mi.us Web page: www.aaalc.org -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- State Unit on Aging Michigan Office of Services to the Aging 611 West Ottawa North Ottawa Tower Lansing, MI 48909 Business Phone # : (517) 373-8230 Contact Phone # : (517) 373-8230 Email: lyonssa@state.mi.us Web page: www.miseniors.net In most cases you will receive three listings depending on the area of the country searched. Information & Referral - provides information about services and resources in the locality requested. Area Agency on Aging - agency designated to support programs at the regional and local levels. State Unit on Aging - an agency designated by the Governor to provide statewide direction for aging programs. The agency listed first should be your initial point of contact for information. Keep in mind that the agencies listed will provide you with helpful information about your concern, but may not provide the specific service you need. You may also contact the Eldercare Locator 1-800-677-1116 to receive a more extensive list of information. They recommend your local Area Agency on Aging to get you started on finding help. They seem to be a very local agency since their zip code is only one digit different than yours. Keep this one note in mind You may also contact the Eldercare Locator 1-800-677-1116 to receive a more extensive list of information. You could also try your local departmnet of human services. Also try getting in touch with the local Alzheimer Association http://www.alz.org/ a search for your local organization gives the info below. Thank you, Jim. I've bookmarked the site and will be doing a lot of reading. Very helpful to a new caregiver, as you said.
Cheers, Rita |
