Actually yes there is a way to combat that problem and its simple ole coughing which at the same time exercises the lungs and clears out the phlegm Wink
If she is sedentary then get her to move every 1/2 hour, walk her around the house, have her sit upright if she is apt to lay down.
If she doesnt take direction willingly then use an excuse like you need her to help you do something Smile

Welcome to ECO. I do hope we can help. There are many causes of dementia, as you just sorted out. Respiratory issues is one, depression is another, also some meds can cause confusion.

Sorry I responded to your other thread before I read this one. Glad to know that a nurse and PT do come.

yes shes on O2 shes on 3.5-4LPM the thing is she doesnt expel the CO2 and the Co2 saturation can cause demtentia (the nurse told me that today) but there is no way to treat the CO2 problem

Ahh ok a little more info.
Ok sweetie dont jump the AD gun just yet unless shes diagnosed with it because her memory probs could be related to her respiratory issues this is very common.
Is she on O2?
When O2 stats drop the memory issues increase.
If shes on oxygen then what is the recommended LPM for her? 2? 3? 4?
If this applies and lets say shes at 2 LPM then Id call the PCP up and ask if its ok to increase it to 3 or 4 LPM and see how she responds then.
