I had Don tilt his head back as far as he could, and turn a bit to the right or left - depending on the eye. I told him to look toward his nose. And then I put the drop(s) in the OUTER corner of his eye. Stuff ran right toward the tear ducts, flooding the entire eye just like it was supposed to. Perhaps this will work for others, too.

You could do it perfectly and he still might not like it. Mom makes a horrible face when we clean her eyes and put in drops. Now instead of waiting for her to open, I drop the drop in the corner at her nose and tell her to blink. It runs in fine, and I just don't take it personally that she doesn't like it. Well, there is a trick of just putting eye drops above the inner corner lid so they just run in.
