It's good to hear from you. Your Dad has done a great job and I really admire him for being able to say that it is time to move to the next step. A dear friend helped her parents make such a move several years ago. It was her father with dementia and it got beyond her mother's ability to cope at home. They had a nice little apartment furnished with their own favorite things, a choice of the dining hall or preparing a meal in their mini-kitchen, there was emergency help available.. some activities. This was not a "full service" progressive care type of place, but they could have a aide come and assist with bathing and housekeeping. If they needed any real nursing or PT, home health or an agency that also offers skilled nursing could provide that and charge medicare, same as at home. She used an agency because they could also send some one to take her parents to appointments if she could not, and arrange for sitters at the hospital to give her a break. (that was out of pocket, but still less than paying for services everyday whether you use them or not at one of the really pricey places.) I am sure you find a good place that will give them what they need.
