I am taking the 4 stray kittens to the vets later today, they are going to be checked for leukemia and I sure hope all is ok. I asked the vets if they could possibly give me a discount they said no they don't do that, oh well at least I asked. I think it's like 37.50 a test so that's not too bad. I don't know what I'll do if they have that since I hat a cat now that I can't expose to it. I am going to think only good thoughts. I'll keep you posted.
Angelina, it takes a while after exposure, for the test to be positive, so if you don't know when or if exposure took place, a second test is advisable. Is your other cat vaccinated? I admit mine aren't since they are strickly indoors, exposure is unlikely, but it is the smart thing to do. Good luck finding them homes. The sweeter and healthier they are, the better your chances.
We're dog people in our household. (Don't ask how many at the moment. We may even be in violation of city ordinance LOL) But we are so protective of our babies.
When we brought our yorkie home about seven years ago, I actually had the den floor professionally disinfected. LOL
Good News!!!They all tested Negative, I'm so glad. They said you have to bring them back in 3 to 6 months to be tested again to make sure they don't have it. I thought they should have told us to wait a while then instead of bringing them in now I don't know it's confusing. She said that they have to tell you that but most people don't wait that time to let them be with other cats. It is usually ok if first test was negative. So I think i'll let them be with our other cat I was keeping them apart for 2 weeks. They are so sweet, I wish I could keep them all but I don't think so.
