Maybe we are lucky to have only one species here, but I would like to see more in person sometime.

Bobcat, we get the Rufous(that was the male brat that chases the others away. We also get the Anna's-they have been known to stay on the island year round esp down around Victoria. Think there are also Black-chinned and Calliope. Now that I look at the picts again I think the problem MIGHT be that we have a Rufous(easily recognized male) and a black-chinned male fighting over the feeders. The females are more difficult for me to identify.

Hi gypsy, according to the wildlife calender for our area, the scout hummers should show up about now. It is still pretty cold and unless they feed from redbuds (honey bees do) there isn't much from nature for them yet.

We are in our "Dog Wood Winter". Haven't seen a hummer yet. We only have ruby throats. Most often 2 pair arrive and nest. The adults are very civil, but the hatchlings are brats. When they first come out of the nest, they have no sense of danger. I have had them fly up in my face to study their reflection in my glasses. Then they play like the worst of siblings.

Janie, I am glad to hear that even with a glitch in the plan, all came together.

Mom and I watched The Sound of Music. She knows the songs, but I had to lean in to her ear and sing a verse for each one. Then she would grin. Do, a deer,,, Whiskers on kittens,,,Climb every mountain,,

Happy Easter everyone. Bobcat I like both picts. Guess one of these days I'll have to fool with my picts. Tried to get one of a hummingbird today but they were too busy fighting over the feeders-brats I put a second one up the other day. Now the male tries to guard both.I love watching how sneeky they get.

It is lovely!!

I had a delightful (unexpected)day, as my older son showed up with his daughter to bring my DH a wheelchair. They ate lunch with us, Shrimp Alfredo, salad, garlic bread, and strawberry cheesecake. Then, they left to go to a flea market (which was closed for the holiday.) Frown

Gosh, my granddaughter is 14 and is sooooooo pretty; my son just turned 41 and is sooooo handsome. Big Grin Do you think I just may be a little big prejudiced? Razz

I am blessed.

For fun and encouragement I would like to tell all about the image I posted. Darling niece (wedding date in June) was given a camera from my H for her wedding present, she is trying to use it, but won't "play". She sent me a slide show saying she wasn't happy with the lighting, it was a cloudy day, so it goes. With her permission, I showed her a little about "Playing".

Here is the shot as sent to me.

In the editing section of photobucket, I brightened it, increased the contrast and turned it into a color sketch. Now she likes it. Have some fun everyone, not just with a picture, but with a dreary circumstance, a little brightning and a little "playing" goes a long ways.
