Mom is travelling to Texas this weekend thank God. Flights have been booked, explained a dozen times, sticky notes on calendar. I want to scream. She wanted to see tickets. She has an "Open return" which means we haven't booked it yet. Truth is I'm hoping she'll stay out there for a couple of weeks at least. I finally typed up fake return tickets in large print and attached to calendar. Made up a fake return date for October 1st including false flight # etc. Am I going to hell? Of course not, because right now we are living through it. She told me to be a better actress as she could see my frustration. I told her I'm doing the best that I can and that I don't feel well. She says "Just wait 30 years and you'll know how it feels." Nice. Fact is, I full remember how it was when her mom suffered from Alzheimer's and how irritated my mom got. G-ma was put in a nursing home where she lived for almost 6 years. I remember wondering how the hell my mom could do that. Now I understand. There will be no nursing home for mom, but I have found a gorgeous retirement village with a year-long waiting list, they have assisted living arrangements and an Alzheimer's unit for when she is completely dependent. It's 6 blocks from here and I can visit or stay over whenever I want. I'm going to hang in there as long as I can, even if my acting sucks.
Grrrrr! I want to run away and never come back.
I miss my friends, my kids, my grandchildren who all live out of state. Throwing a pity party, anyone want to join in?
