Tonight, I'm hoppin mad.

Mom has been in a rehab place here, and this is the 2ond time, she's had to wait 25-30 minutes to potty. And you all know when you get elderly, its harder to hold it.

First time, I had just got home from taking her there. Neice called me last Friday night crying, said "nanny has been trying to get someone to help her potty for over 30 minutes". I called the nurses station, and told them "I just left there, I'm tired, and grumpy, and if I have to come back tonight, I might not be as nice. My mom has waited over 30 mintues to go to the bathroom". Guy said he'd take care of it right away. I called Mom back 5 mintues later, she was on the potty.

Well, today I slipped in quietly, and they had her in a diaper! Mom has never used daipers before. A pad, yea, but not a diaper! I watched her ring for the nurse to help her to the bathroom once, then right after she rang the 2ond time, I got her up, took the diaper off, and helped her on the potty chair.

I called 0 for guest relations. I thought that was the number to complain. Nope..said they'd connect me to the nurses station. I blew them out and wanted to know who put a diaper on my mom, and why the hell did it take them 25 mintues to come help her.

Oh, I ain't through yet. I fished out the "guest relations" guy's card from my purse, shot him an email tonight. I also got the state Ombudsman's phone number now too!

I'm loaded for bear, and may call them all before its all over with!

They will NOT do MY Mother like that! Mom sucks up to them all, saying "I know I'm not the only patient up here". I say there is no excuse for 2 times making her wait over 25 minutes in 8 days. And no telling what goes on when I'm not there, cause she don't want to rat the girls out.

Bulldoody on alla dat, bnot!! Go for the jugular. If your mom wasn't IN diapers when she got there, there is no reason she should be in them now!! Rehabs are to help people REGAIN function, not backslide!! Weekends are NO EXCUSE to let patients lose ground. PLUS if she is already having a skin breakdown on her backside, a Depends is NOT, repeat, is NOT gonna help that!!! Hold their feet to the fire and if you run out of matches, I got a spare box.

But remember: stay just on the light side of felonious conduct as the bail fund is meager... Tryin' to save it for the Christmas party, KWIM?

B, in defense of Depends on patients in a facility I can see that happening for the simple reason your mom needs assistance to toilet, she may be a fall risk so its far more likely they put her in Depends for that reason alone but I am in no way defending their actions just giving a reason why they applied these on your mom.
You may not do this at home and that is fine but for them its far more efficient and safe.
Depends dont have to be changed right away depending on the amount of urine output (feces a different story, immediate change)
The problem with this practice is that they seem to taking this notion to another level one which makes most of us wanna jump down someones throat.
Now is moms depends loaded or is she just calling to go to the bathroom because she doesnt want to urinate in it?
