I'm not really angry but mother has been in the hospital 3 times in the last month and in the nursing home the rest of the time except for about 5 days over Thanksgiving when she was home. I had that mini-stroke and found out I'd had a previous stroke, probably on the heart/lung machine during heart surgery 13 years ago, but I've been having trouble with words ever since the mini-stroke. I had an MRI Friday after cooking for two days, and I had to fight the Black Friday shoppers to buy myself something for Christmas from mother. She ordered me to do that. Friday night at 10:30, she started acting strangely, so I called 911 and they took her back to the hospital. I went to bed at 3 a.m. I'm getting sort of tired. I hope to get her out of the hospital tomorrow and that everything will calm down since we only have 2 weeks of school left and I will have to grade a lot of papers. I'm so glad that my brother doesn't bother me about taking care of mother. Of course, he knows if I get upset, he'll be taking care of mother, so he leaves me alone. A friend told me today that one of her brothers had accused the rest of the family of trying to kill their mother. Their mother has some sort of horrible infection and will die. She nearly died a week ago, but recovered. However, they expect her to die before long. Her brother strikes me as really weird. Of course, Mother threatened my brother and me about her old age and her money long ago. We are not to fight about it. She won't leave any money so that's okay, but we've been warned off fighting about her. She's a smart old gal. We have never understood families that fight over their mothers and dads. No one in our family has ever fought over inheritances or anything. Of course, no one in our family has anything to leave. Well, I take that back. My aunt by marriage had her stepchildren cut her off because they got a copy of her will and didn't like it. What the hell, she has two other daughters and the stepkids can take a flying leap. But it hurt her feelings.
I really am not angry or anything though I thought this rant site was only for people with parents with Alzheimer's. Bunny's Girl straightened me out. So during my next pity party, I may be in touch. This yellow type is hard to see for old people. |

Thanks, BG. I will try this site though I use a lot of multisyllabic words every day and haven't had too much of a problem lately. If I'm tired, I can't remember the words, but I find that most of my friends who are 60ish have the same problem. It may just be a function of age. But a numb tongue was strange enough for me to check it out. Considering I'm so verbal, all English majors are, not being able to talk is very bad. I think is get a lot of brain exercise reading TS Eliot's poetry and keeping up with my classes, but I still will try to the site. Thanks.
