Im sorry Im am way past pissed off. I did not wake up this morning for this.
This day started off bad but hey I put on my happy face and plugged along but the more this whole situation bothered me. I called the PCP for MIL I asked to speak to HIM Not the Nurse what do I get? The nurse...not once but twice Im trying to get MIL in for an evaluation does the PCP help or does the idiot hinder the process? Oh Yes he hinders it in a major way tells the nurse to tell me to take her into the ER to get her admitted...Ok what do you think my happy ass did?! Thats right 4 hours in an ER I finally had to take Hunny home he has to get up in 5 hours so I ask if it would be alright to leave her there (I already got her to sleep) Sure we'll call you back with the test results and what we plan to do. I just got a call back to pick her up. Uh did I not just ask her PCP for a full Geriatric evaluation or not? Pardon me for being Oh I dont know...trusting that her PCP would step the hell up and assist in this mess, is that too much to ask? What the hell am I doing wrong?

Well Ill put this one to bed now I got an excellent Social Worker who is straightening all this mess up as we had a nice long talk today about MIL she has just had a couple of scans today so hopefully they will pinpoint something.
As I was cleaning up her room thoroughly today (playin with poop ya shoulda seen it! from the bedroom to bathroom Eek) I noticed her calendar had not been marked like she usually does so I have pinpointed when something occurred it was either on the 5th or 6th of last month. Because it involved her eyesight I believe she had another small stroke (for some reason they all happen in that area with her) hopefully it will show up on the scan they just did, it would explain whats been happening lately.

Wanna guess this one? Oh come on. Still no call from PCP but on a side note that black hearted SOB just stood up and spoke for me!
I just got a PC from a Case Manager telling me I told (Thats right I told) the PCP I could no longer care for my MIL: in my home so my decision was to place her in a B&C.....Hmmmm did somebody (Harry are you guilty?) of making me chug copious amounts of alcohol? Girls? Cause I know theres no liquor to be had in my home...Jeeze is there some drug I dont know about maybe???
Yeah see I didnt think so... So when exactly did those words come out of my mouth I asked? Dont know I supposedly told him this....Ok Ill bite why are you exactly calling me for again? Well to place your MIL.
OK LADY...While I understand you have been led astray by some incompetent JACKASS the fact is I am NOT putting MIL in a B&C EVER she is in there for evaluation addressing meds and her hip needs to be looked at nothing more nothing less. Tell That Doctor he is to call me when he finally grows a set and tell the jackass to stop speaking for me when he hasnt even called me to update on my MIL's condition nor did he speak to me when I asked specifically for him yesterday!
Oh my poor keyboard is gettin a beating right now Mad

To me thats called holding up the mirror of compassion. These people better start gettin some real quick or theres gonna be some regret real soon...By their own hand.
Not too many youngins in there so I think thats a pretty good assumption, sudden illness comes on in everyones life and their all like babies vying for attention thats when their gonna realize that lovely word I like to throw around often...."Karma" She's a whole world of trouble to mess with Eek Wink

BC Do you mean a date???!!! I forgot all about that Eek Holy Crap! That means uniterupted................Ooops sorry my mind wandered for a hot second! Razz

We often find ourselves saying things that aren't "nice" DG. It's just a fact that always being nice doesn't get the job done for our LOs. All to often the results are getting put on the back burner to simmer in frustration.

BG, Hurrah, You've been heard, and met. I know you will be there keeping a close eye on everything, but a chance to go out to dinner, or stay home alone and play with your table saw, are in your immediate future. Make the best of it, Honey.

My 2 cents here - - I think the majority of doctors and emergency room personnel don't have a clear understanding of elderly issues. I have found this to be the case both with my father before he passed and now my mom. All we can hope for is they (staff without care) will have parents in this situation someday. Oh, that really wasn't nice to say!!!!!!

Ok Lets all breath a sigh of relief! She has been admitted! Call the band out people are actually working...EXCEPT for that PCP of hers they were stumped at why I havent been called by him. Hmmm think that was an oversight or just plain ole fear of getting told off for keepin my happy butt up all night waiting?
Either way Psych is on the ball she is going through a whole battery of tests meds will be looked at and as the nursie lady said get some sleep now....Ahhhh Calgon take me away!

I just might have to be overheard discussing how this situation may fit the definition of negligence. Maybe with my cell phone to my ear is if I might be talking to a lawyer? The only thing that scares them more than the possibility of a scratch on the Mercedes is the threat of Mal-practice.

Not a good way to make friends, but a good way to influence enemies. Lord help us when the physician becomes the adversary. Rotten situation.

Bunny,

I am so sorry you are going through this. What is it lately with PCPs. My Dad really likes his. The PCP is an idiot! He will no longer see patients on Fridays. I explained that I work Mon-Thurs, so the only day I have for appointments with Dad was Fri. he knows the situation and said "well, I am sure there is someone else who can take him". I explained that it wasnt true. No one else was heloing...his reply..."well, your dad has gotten here on his own before". Dad has dementia. The dr knows it. I looked at hima dn siad "he can't anymore". The doctors reply "nothing I can do!"...

So now I am doing what I can. I am finding a new PCP. It just amazes me how little compassion and empathy most of them have.

I hope all goes well with your mom! And think about a new PCP!

Thank you and she is still in the ER I am STILL waiting for a PC from SOMEONE. Who knows...Where does one draw a line here this is all beneath contempt to me I dont get this at all...I am trying my dangdest to calm down right now for if I walk in there right now Id hate to hear what comes outta my mouth Im sorry Im livid right now and my MIL doesnt need that my insides are boiling and the last time that happened well lets just say the person didnt take to kindly to what was said...Lets just say an idiotic jealous wife who could not trust her Dr hubby saw fit to neglect to tell her hubby of a very important message, he got mad at me and was still pissed when I finally told him it was his very own wife who neglected to do her duty i didnt come out and say his wife I just said there are 3 women in that office each have distinct differences I got to old wifey poos descript. and let loose on what a nasty mean woman she has always been to us (so true this woman was not nice at all even trying to make her laugh and whatnot didnt break the ice with her) her failure to pass on a message in which about 12 hours of research was done by me and a pow wow with Hunny to come to a decision about MIL and the next step to take which involved surgery to fix this issue (surgery still not done to date) yet another reason for her to be getting care. She is in considerable pain this entire time fell 3 nights ago and is in even more pain now if that is possible...
I dont have a clue what to do next I am trying to stand my ground but this looks like a losing battle to me.

This guy sounds like my Mom's ex-urologist. I'ld take Mom in for in appointment and after waiting an hour ask the nurse if she had any idea when he would be able to see my (then) 89 year old Mom to be told she didn't know because he was at the hospital performing an emergengy surgery. I ask her why I was n't told this when we signed in, and she said it was against his rules for them to tell anyone where he was.
Another time He was there, I'ld seen him and they put her in an exam room after she had been in the waiting room for 20 min, then she sat there for 1/2 hour. This room was next to his office and he was in there on the phone talking to a collegue about a political appointment he thought was unwise. I knocked on his door and firmly reminded him that Mom was here because HE had said she needed to be seen and if she wasn't seen in the next 5 min, we were leaving.
Then he recommended a outpatient cystoscopy for her so I take her over to the hospital for preregistration one day ahead, and as we filled out the forms (I knew the nurse filling out the paper work with us) I remember us laughing over how to spell pessary because Mom has had one for years, ( This urologist had been her guy for at least 3 years before I started driving her around, remember that little fact) .
After the proceedure, he comes to the waiting room and starts fussing at us "Why didn't you tell me she had a pessary?". To my bro's embaressement I stood up and looked straight in the I and told him I was shocked that a specialist of his "supposed " caliber didn't bother to go over the preregistration info before beginning a proceedure, wasn't that the purpose? Plus I was also shocked to have it made so clear that in the years that she had been his pateint He obviously never physically examined her.
There were other people in the waiting room and they were all ears. The Doc shut his trap on that one and went on to tell us that Mom was doing well, there were no problems found and she could go home in an hour. My bro later asked me if that little scene was really nesecary? Yes, and over due as well.
Some of them are arrogant pigs This uro and your MILs PCP Definately fall in that group.

I am up...still no phone call to speak of...I guess that was asking a little too much from anyone to actually have any kind of respect and call like promised.
But hey after the PCP's screw up cause I sure as sh** aint takin any blame for this one Oh No.
Admitting wasnt closed they shuffled her right through without a problem but her PCP never called and by the time the ER Doc got to her there was still no call from him whatsoever so they were about as confused as we were. But that ainta stoppin me...Here is a lil laugh its her PCP's day off so all I am sayin is Now what?!

Thanks Mar (((hugs))) smoochie

Yikes, BG! Whattaway to spend a day!

Ya know, it sounds to me like one of those infamous communications snaffus. This kind of crud always seems to happen when you become the ball in the ping-pong game between the receptionist and nurse. IF ONLY SOMEONE would let you talk DIRECTLY to the doctor!!! MY God, is that so difficult!?

Well, BG, is it a safe guess to say that the ER doc never called you? I would pack MIL up at the crack of dawn and be waiting in the parking lot for PCP's office to open. I betcha he'd talk to me then!!!

...an afterthough...was Admitting already closed for the day? Cuz I was wondering why the doc would have told to take her to the ER for an admission.

bg. you have every right to be crazy pissed off. it seems like pcp have built a wall of body guards disguised as nurses isolating them from the time consuming demands of patients with issues other than the quickies that just require a quick scripts for antibiotics, sprains and runny noses. these are fast a more profitable than evaluations for more complicated issues. i agree he should have at least made the order to admit her. i personally think pcp's get kickbacks from shrinks because they definitly drive you crazy. sorry you went through hell today, you are justified in your anger and digust and i don't know if the venting helps but go for it. it helps me and i am willing to listen anytime. whatever you do don't slam your fist into a wall, you'll just end up repeating the recent incident by needing medical attention. g
