So happy th of found this web site. My Mother is in a nursing home and boy the guilt is overwhelming. Couln't handle her at home and now it wisit her brings me to tears. She has become so angry at me and everything around her.How many time do I have to tell myself that this was the right desision before I belive it?
Wemt to visit today and she was in a good mood until out of the blue she hit a police officer that came to visit his Mother. they have her on zoloft but I don't think it is what she needs andy suggestions?

Honey you have nothing to feel guilty about. If she is ambulatory and has a tendency towards anger and being physical there is nothing you CAN do about this but enlist help of people that deal with this all the time.
You are doing NOTHING wrong this is the disease sweetie this is not about you.
Im sure hoping the NH is noticing this did you speak to them about what just happened and your concerns?
Do talk to her PCP and tell him/her Moms rages are getting out of hand, this could become dangerous to someone who can not defend themselves against an assault obviously Zoloft is not working a change of meds is in order toot sweet.
Whenever something gives you pause sweetie speak up dont hold back it is your right to question anything they are doing in regards to your mother If you dont think a med is working then you need to address it right away.

Oh darlin', if you couldn't do it at home, then what else could you do??? Stop that guilt right now ,right here,. I live in faer of the day if and when Mom can't stay at home. Her home. In some ways I feel like a hostage. Still I am trying. and it's like beating my head against a wall some days. My own life is on call at all tmes. Vicious .
