Today when I took my parents to lunch the owners 14 1/2 mo grandson was at the cafe. The mom to the baby works at the cafe. She has been there since she got pregnant. She brings the baby to work with her everyday.
Two things are happening that I am really having trouble with. When the baby gets fussy, she will take him for a ride in the car till he goes to sleep. Then she comes back and leaves him in the car sleeping. Second, he is walking and has the run of the whole cafe. This includes the kitchen. Today he had a red and swollen eye and cheek from his getting into some soap in the kitchen. It looked horrible. I love this little child but am so worried about his welfare. Is this something that cps should be notified about? I dont want to stick my nose in the wrong place but feel that the baby is in danger. Remember -Non caregivers who do not walk the walk have plenty of empty talk |

In my state leaving a child unattended in a car is considered "criminal neglect". If I saw this I would report it to the police. Also in my state you can file a 960 report of suspected child abuse or neglect with Social Services and do it without putting down your name. You don't want to find yourself in the position of someday reading about this hurt child in the paper and thinking, "If only I had..." Good luck, I know it isn't an easy situation to be in.
