I'm sorry but lazy people irritate me!!! I go a bit overboard sometimes with cleaning (nervous energy) but my Mom has a small apartment in our home and honestly it would take 10 minutes to clean it, I mean vacuum and dust that kind of cleaning. The caretaker that comes in doesn't even see what needs done I get tired of putting the sweeper out the furniture polish etc., just hoping she'll get the hint No Way. I have to tell her tomorrow but I would be sooooo bored to just sit there and watch tv I mean it just drives me crazy. I know that's how some people are I used to be in buz for myself and had so many employees like that, but this is different it's such a cute small place, that would be like playing house, just keep it nice you know? So when she leaves I clean, how crazy is that?

But BG, I'm still trying to figure out how in the world can anybody "do laundry backwards"

Well lets see here M its been a minute since I was there but if I recall not only did this woman have 5 baskets for laundry (I have 3 darks whites an colors and sometimes 4 for delicates although not very many delicates in this house if yanowaddimean)
Well anyhow if the item touched her sons peri area then this was put into a bleach wash and it didnt matter if it was dark (she ruined more Russel sweats this way those are 25 bucks a pop here) which means if the sheet was soiled no matter the color it went into the bleach load but separate from the sweat pants.
Washcloths had to be line dried FIRST then put into the laundry same thing goes for them if it touched peri area it was bleached she had a separate stack for peri cleansing but they were all at one time or another in a bleach load so they got mixed up BUT she could tell the difference!
I honestly couldnt and if I put them away wrong I got yelled at for my trouble. Eek
Now this same woman had the unmitigated gall to call up my boss about 6 months ago to tell her I had ruined some sheets with bleach....problem was I hadnt been there in months so it wasnt me! Razz
This woman had some of the more serious OCD traits I have ever seen in my life.
I reported it to my boss because she was by way of her disorders causing too much trouble for anyone who took the case.

I recall having a wringer washer and regular washer.I had a double sink and all in the cellar.I would wash my daughters school dress in the wringer as it would be gentle and could wash them in the time frame I wanted.I used both kinds at one time in my life.Use to do bblankets etc in it.Also garages use to have them to wash their greasy rags

I wish I had a mangle. My aunt use to take in wash and she taught me how to use it.They are great and if you know how to use them you can make irioning a breeze.I once worked in a lady and we had a big commercial mangle.I use to know how to use the presses and would take my kids jeans to work and press them.Did they have sharp creases

We used to dry them on the line, then bring them in and sprinkle them with a special scented water my mom used, then put them in this heavyweight blue plastic bag with a zipper for a while (maybe 30 min or an hour) before ironing them. I need to ask mom about that scented water. Not sure if it was something she bought, or something she made.

My mom had a mangle. Hated that thing; I was always burning my fingers on it. But, you know, there are times when I wish we had one. It sure was nice sleeping on freshly pressed cotton sheets, but that's just such a chore to do on an ironing board.

You were talking about a wringer washer before wow I remember my Mom having one many years ago and you know i remember putting a rug in there and got my finger pinched not real bad but I never did that again!!! I wonder how many people even know what those were like?

Not many LOL Im a little unique in that Im in my mid 40's (oh crap that sounds....oh nevermind! LOL) but I grew up without electricity in a pretty rural area by my grandparents who used it all till you couldnt use it no more then found another use for "it".
Its a good thing though since I can relate to most of my patients on a level a lot of city people/coworkers cant.
Now waitaminute if you know the ole wringer washer....(pre release lever or post Eek)
We had the one before the release that you had to shove a screwdriver in to get your finger out an lemme tell ya dungarees were a bitch! They dont make jeans that thick anymore thank the stars above but those lil pissers were the things that got my fingers smooshed in the first place so I feel ya there!
And back to the waitaminute do you know what a mangle is then? lol
I usually get a blank stare from youngins and a cackle from the oldies but goodies Big Grin
I was just reminiscing with someone today about the subject believe it or not...so she says "Its refreshing to chat with a gal your age that knows what I went through instead of these babies that dont know crap from crisco" **chuckle**
She aint nothin if not honest Big Grin

well I hired people to come in and stay with my Dad at night after his surgery and they asked me (the agency) do you want a sleeper? Or one to stay awake...I was like yes I want them to stay awake to make sure Dad doesn't try to get up after his surgery and guess what? The home called me 3 times (3 different people) and caught them sleeping1 I was really upset at that. When I told the agency they said well they are allowed to doze off, how do you respond to that comment?

There are "sleep shifts" which is a 12 hour shift, so like 8pm to 8am, they are allowed to "sleep" on their shift but if its an 8 hour shift oh hell no! You are not allowed to sleep/doze off for any reason its an 8 hour shift fercryinoutloud Roll Eyes
(If a patient wakes and ambulates more than 2 times during a sleep shift then it is required they have 8 hour shifts if there is any type of problem ambulating safely.)
Next time someone from an agency tells you that say thank you and go somewhere else. Roll Eyes
Mine was doing an 8 hour shift passed out on the floor feet up on a lounge chair (talk about disrespectful!) at 1/4 to 3 in the afternoon I stood there quiet as a church mouse till she finally opened those baby browns shocked as all get out (I stood there for 5 minutes Im not kidding!)
My patient was on the couch asleep an could have rolled off...livid doesnt even begin to express what I was feeling at the sight of that. Mad

Like I said before I got her brochure and she is to be cleaning, laundry, cooking, it says housekeeping. I don't really want her to do all that stuff, I'd rather she watch Mom more, but, vacuuming and wiping counters was more what I was talking about again, these are 2 rooms, not a whole house!!! Anyhow i wanted to reply to Bunny g about the one sleeping, well I hired people to come in and stay with my Dad at night after his surgery and they asked me (the agency) do you want a sleeper? Or one to stay awake...I was like yes I want them to stay awake to make sure Dad doesn't try to get up after his surgery and guess what? The home called me 3 times (3 different people) and caught them sleeping1 I was really upset at that. When I told the agency they said well they are allowed to doze off, how do you respond to that comment? I was never allowed to doze off on my job and get paid for it. .
