Good idea Gail I think Ill trot out this weekend and do just that with my "nice" neighbors! Thanks for the heads up there Wink And trust me I feel the same way as you, APS can be a blessing in many cases. Ive seen a few situations that curled the hair on my head! One time I had to intervene on an elders behalf, I hate people who abuse others it takes me to a place I fear...Not good for the reciever of my wrath! Hell Ide be scared of me over APS anyday LMAO! So as far as Im concerned Ill roll out the red carpet any ole day they want to show up. Although this time I WILL tell them to be a little more cautious in their approach towards her. She is still off in another dimension right now and new family drama UGH! People need to back away from her now. They are not making any friends with me right now I tell ya! Mad

BG, Sorry I've been away from the BB for a while and am just reading this now. I'm so sorry you are going through this. What an awful experience. It makes my blood boil to think you have to live next door to such a horrible person.

I've been involved in social services in two states that are very aggressive about investigating elder abuse and I can tell you that they do not go after people who falsely accuse others because they prefer to err on the side of caution. The only thing you can do is to head this situation off at the pass. Write up the facts that everyone in the neighborhood can agree to and write a letter signed by as many people in the neighborhood as you can attesting to the wonderful care you give your mom and the attitude of your neighbor towards the elderly and disabled. You need something like this that can be kept in your mom's file at social services and a copy that you can show to police or social services when they show up at your doorstep. Trust me it's worth heading this off at the pass because some of these social service folks can really get your dander up. I had a friend whose child was taken away for several days because she wouldn't let the social worker in and said she wanted to call her attorney. You did exactly the right thing by bringing the social worker into your home and showing her that your mom was fine. Abusers don't do that, they try to keep the SW out.

Don't react emotionally if the SW shows up again. Do exactly what you did last time, but show the SW the signed letter and any other documentation you can gather to establish that the neighbor is crazy and harassing you and your mom and other neighbors.

You need this like a hole in the head, I know. I had to go through a bunch of stuff with the State of Massachusetts when my parents lived there as they are so overprotective of the elderly that I couldn't even help my parents do their banking even with my Power of Attorney. Although it was frustrating, I would rather that the state would err on the side of caution because there are so many cases where real elder abuse is occurring and it is real hard when you are in the shoes of a SW to know what is real and what isn't until you investigate.

You should invite the old dudes who live around the corner from me. Every day while I'm taking my daughter to school, I see them in their electric wheelchairs sitting in a driveway together gossiping and watching the cars go by.

A few weeks ago, as I turned the corner, I saw that one of them was crossing the street in his wheelchair to meet his buddy across the street. Some moron in a car evidently didn't think he was moving fast enough and tapped his horn. So the guy in the wheelchair stopped, gave the car a one-finger salute, and started turning donuts in his wheelchair in the middle of the street.. His friends, already in the driveway, were slapping their legs and laughing. Finally his daughter came out and yelled, "Dad! Quit playing in the street."

My daughter and I had tears running down our cheeks from laughing. We applauded, and gave them the thumbs-up as we passed.

BG. Do you have room on your front lawn for a big inflatable bubble bounce thing? My friends have one and will let us use it...no cost I'm sure. We can put the l/o's in there, it's safe and if they want and can can bounce till their hearts content. The one's, like mine, that can't will at least get to roll without any pressure. Think of the show for the guy across the street!!

BG, have you thought to complain about this guy TO APS, then follow up with a call to your local representative? The kind of abuse this guy is hurling is not only slanderous, it is a HUGE waste of taxpayer resources. If your APS is short-staffed and overworked (as all supposedly are) calling them out on the basis of this cretin's complaints should be considered a crime. I believe it IS a crime to make false statements to authorities... sure got Clinton in trouble, eh?

If you want to take it to the limit, go straight up the chain of command... I think there's a cabinet position near the top... Unfortunately, unless you have an "in" with someone, calling out the dogs on this guy can boomerang on ya... they'll wonder why you are making such a fuss if you have nothing to hide... Doesn't occur to them that most folks get real PISSED at having enforcement agencies called on them for no good reason... The fear of reprisal is how this crap keeps going on, and going on and going on... I wonder how many of these calls they go to every day and how many important calls are not made because of their time being wasted on inanities like this... Roll Eyes I know they have gotta investigate every complaint, but they also need to take a quick look at the complainant as well...

Once when one of our favorite nurses was visiting, she asked Mom how she was doin'. Mom cackled, "Great! She only beats me once a day!" What can I say - she was in a feisty mood that day! The nurse cracked up but warned her NOT to say that stuff in front of other people as it could get us in a LOTTA hot water... For some reason, professionals don't seem to understand that elderly folks crack dark elder abuse jokes, have bruises and marks they can't explain, etc. Some even make stuff up to go hand-in-hand with their delusions du jour! Mom has even managed to bruise herself and cut her hand once IN BED! Eek I left one perfect "grab" print on her arm a few weeks ago when her shoulder had oozed down between the mattress and the padded rail while I was changing her. I had to literally pick her up sideways and just that brief grip (to get her up a little so I could reach under her) was enough to make a grab mark on her poor, frail little arm. God forbid the pros should have seen that! They'd be investigating me six ways to Sunday!

I sometimes wonder how much HANDS ON (no pun intended) experience these folks have with caring for elderly folks... The first time Mom fell into the wall and tore the skin on her arm, I thought my eyeballs were gonna pop outta my head! Eek I could not BELIEVE how a little stumble into the wall (she didn't even fall!) could cause such a WICKED 3-corner tear in her skin! And of course, along with the split skin comes the bleeding underneath... so it looked like someone hit the poor woman with a Louisville slugger!! I have never been a wimp when it comes to the normal blood and wounds and stuff on humans, dogs and cats, but I must admit, when I saw that first gash, the room turned a leedle green on me... Eek

With any luck, this guy will make enough false reports that the authorities will catch on to his game and threaten to prefer charges against him... People need to take a stand against this kind of abuse of our privacy and our enforcement services. If prank-calling 911 is a crime, so should this kind of stuff be considered a crime as well.

Is their the possibility this man s wife has problems that causae him stress and he is acting out.The loosing of his car may mean he has fallen on hard times. What ever the reason his behavior toward outhers needs to change. How sad he has tied your hands behind you because of the fear he may say something to cause you stress.I would hope if he continues to call the agency and they know theiir is no neglect they will address him.The problem is when someone makes such a claim and it has been acted on we , you suffer. You try harder, do more then needed.
I wish they were so quick to go to all this nursing homes that are sooooooo bad.But they will never step on the toes of those who write the big checks.Only those who are vunerable .

Bg I wonder, you say you very seldom see the wife, could it be that you need to call APS to have them do a welfare check on the Mrs? She might be an abused wife that is not allowed out of the house Roll Eyes

Bunnys Girl, what you described is a very angey , unhappy person.Sadly he has not chosen to reach outside his four walls for answers.People like that are dangerous as they have no way to vent their anger and others becomes their victims.Sad he has a wife that allows such behavior toward the neighbors.Possibly she spends time in the yard to escape his negative behavior.I do believe if he continue to make false accusations someone will make a visit to his home and tell him to stop casing others such stress and heart ache.
I wonder if he has always been this way and if so why others have allowed this to go on.

Very sad Mae I can tell by just obsevation over the last 3 years there is absolutely no one that comes to this house with the exception of his son. His entire existance with his wife even is within those four walls...From what Ive seen he never even goes out his life is wrapped up in his lawn care and thats it, nothing more. He even shoes animals away. To me that tells me the kind of person he is...not a very nice one at all.
I thank the stars above APS didnt show up on my porch the week prior with all the tumbles my MIL has had lately or the week prior to that when she scratched herself silly with a comb (who would think a comb could do that much damage needs to come see my MIL!)Whew! Thats what had me so mad to begin with I know how APS and CPS operate my foster sister was victimized by CPS over an "accident" they are dogs when they attack. She lost her home her livelyhood ect over this mess its sad. It almost destroyed her.
This man I wonder does he have an inkling of what seriously could have happend here?! Thats the other thing that bothers me about this whole thing to the point I am seriously going to write a booklet/handout about this very thing to educate people who dont understand.
This man is already viewed as evil and selfish Karma will definately have her way with him soon enough..For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. I hate to see what his little evil deed brings him! Eek

Bunnys grl, How sad this man has such deep seated feelings about the elderly and what he believes. He must have been around family that showed less then compassion for those that are less then prefect. What is so sad is this is one of our worst fears.I know everytime my aunt bruised her self or my mother I wantd to know how as I was afraid of being accused of something bad.Thank god my aunt was always able to tell how she bruised or scratched herself.I always left the room as to allow them to see I was not afraid of her explanation. Now my mother, she could tell some tall stories.Fortunately the aides , etc , had seen her behavior and knew I was not abuseig her.My husband has accused me of so many things. One time he told everyone I was having sex in bed with 3 men..I thought to my self, look at me, I would be lucky to have a man even consider such.He told those in the hospital that I was poisioning his meds , etc.Thank god there were people around that knew It was his psychosis causing this.
I do know the aides will show you the slightest mark on them as they have the same fears.
I would say this man has a real problem and needs to live where all the people are prerfect. Then he will shine trough as the person he is.
I think you will find those who came to check on you will soon discover this man is evil.

The funny thing about this is he is a smart little cookie but dumb at the same time unless he really is trying to keep people away from him...He admits to what he does but you have to catch him in the act of doing these things in order to charge him.
So I just had a bright idea...He doesnt mind spyin on people how bout a little survellance camera?! I mean after all Im all for home security Ill just go the extra mile and mount cameras on the outside of my home! Facing his house after all I need to see who comes up the street I have no window on that side! Cool
Now as to the party Absolutely! Come one come all Food and beverages on me and I am an expert at making some pretty good purees for our LO's that cant have whole foods! Wink
First sign of warm weather Ill hollar after all I dont want anyone to freeze their tails off lol! We'll close off the cul de sac for the whole day (Ill get my cop buddys to trap em in for the entire day and keep him busy so he cant go hidin in his house! Hopefuly we'll have a few "Accidents" if ya know what I mean! Eek Big Grin Razz
