i havent been on for awhile but here is alittle update, grandma has begun to smoke again, which is a really bad thing she has copd anyway, i have asthma and ended up in the er the other night they wanted to admit me but i was worried about grandma so i refused, thinking back i should have just gone. anyway i was told to quit smoking yet again, however that was about 3 days ago and i havent smoked a full cigerette yet, but grandma keeps trying to get me to smoke because if i quit smoking then i will eat more and just get fatter.
she smokes with her oxygen machine running and cant understand why i keep turning it off.
the other night grandma decided to fry some fish, she has an electric stove and i saw flames, she argued with me as i was grabbing the baking soda that she didnt see any flames.

I'm not sure but I think you're not supposed to smoke near it, even if it is turned off. It would probably be safest if she smoked in a different room than the equipment, preferably outdoors.

I don't think she's being sensible when she says you only have two choices: smoke or be fat. If you want to quit, there are tricks you can use to keep your mouth busy. Don't let her discourage you. You know your lungs aren't built to handle it, so you do what's right for you! :-)

This page has a lot of good tips:

Goodness! All sorts of alarming things to worry about but I'd say the most urgent is smoking near an oxygen machine. That can bring the building down, I believe. If she won't stop, could you maybe hold her cigarettes so she has to ask you for one? That way you could make sure she's at least in a safe place to do so.
