Nope, it's not my mother here who's the culprit. Although she's mostly blind and can find her way around in her home, she is not the one here suffering from dementia. That's my father's title and he can't even lift his head off the pillow without assistance. She's got all of her faculties....or at least most! She's "all there" and the only thing she would hide from anyone would be the chocolate! Strange things to lose, yes, which gives me more reason to be suspicious....all insignificant except for the once in a while that they're used. Dish towels, I don't typically do an inventory of and being that there is usually one in the kitchen at a time and now all of a sudden about 10 missing from the linen closet is, if not suspicious, then odd? And all so easily overlooked until you go to use them, makes it safe for others to help themselves in the meanwhile. Thankfully, they are just small things but it's still a violation and it's enraging me to think that someone coming into my home is walking out with more than their car keys!

Hmmm Sandra sounds to me like its time to install a spy cam! Strange things for HW to steal...but hey does anything make sense when something goes missin? Torp could be right...one of Moms lucid moments...My MILs room Ive had to clean out the last 9 months everyonce and a while for sharps due to her state of mind and tendancy to chop things off/pick at, has had me stumped as I dont know where shes getting these things Friday I found another straight razor which by the way we only have in the garage downstairs??? hows she doing it if she cant get down the stairs??? I have went through everyinch of her bathroom I have emptied the closet AND drawers out (looked underneath) found a bic razor (you dont want to know trust me) scares the bejeebers outta me! The only place I know where those are is in our master bath in the bedroom...So I now have to lock all doors in the upstairs...They hoard the strangest things is what Im trying to say...SO I would be very careful and while someone is giving a bath to her I would toss the room first to see if anything pops up...And dont just look in obvious places they like to roll things up in clothing stick things between the bed...maybe a looksee in your dads room...If youve kept the place "true" (everything in the same place like furniture) even with low or no sight she could be feeling her way around when you arent looking...just a thought...

Odd assortment of things to steal, though. Is your mother sufficiently mobile to have hidden them? We've had some of that issue, i.e. her hiding things to "protect" them and then blaming the aides because she forgets what she did with the items.

She seems to be worse about it when she appears outwardly to be in one of her more alert spells.
