Really had a nasty setback today. Dh fell again and was totally out in left field. I got the ambulance right away an he was mostly unresponsive to the paramedics, also in the emergency room. He was combative, trying to pull out the IV and catheter and get out of the gown and throw blankets off. We couldn't leave him alone for even a minute. Something odd was going on with all this, at home in his recliner he kept looking around the room as if he had lost something but couldn't tell me what he was looking for. In the emergency room he kept reaching up for something and looking for something above him. Does this mean something to anyone?

He is in the hospital now. Luckily his regular doctor was on call, he couldn't get any response from dh either. He asked me if dh had a living will; I had just given the desk a new one with an updated phone number. He will be there 3 or 4 days, then depending on how he is doing either come home or go to the nursing home. I will go to the home tomorrow and finish paperwork and get him on the waiting list, if he goes from the hospital that will be quicker. If he leaves the hospital at all.

I am home for the night. Will get things together for the morning and see how things are going and be prepared to stay if necessary.

This place is going to be so empty tonight.

So sorry to hear this, farmgirl! I hope they test him for a UTI... These common infections can REALLY cause LOs to get nutty, combative, disoriented, etc. He may also have had a stroke or TIA... The docs will check him out from top to bottom. Hopefully, it'll be the UTI which is very treatable!

Hang in there - keeping you & yours in my thoughts! {{{HUGS}}}
