Hi everyone,

My mother is still visiting with her sister in Manitoba, and they're having a lovely time. I'm enjoying my break. Devastating news in a phone call this morning though. My aunt who has had mysterious ailments for a few years now has just been diagnosed with Parkinson's. There were 3 sisters in their big family. The third is gone already, taken by Alzheimer's in December '99. A brother also died of AD this past summer.

I want to do some research. Can anyone point me to a website as a good starting place for learning about Parkinson's?

I don't know what else to say. I'm angry and sad and everything all rolled into one. The two dears have no idea how serious it is, just that it isn't good. It breaks my heart for them, what's ahead. But I'm grateful my Mum was there to help cushion the news.

Thanks for any help you can give. Rita

Margarita, First is to be sure auntie sees a good neurologist. Then make sure they give the medicines that will make a difference wioth the parkinsons.I say this as my husband has Parkinsons.I have discovered with the proper meds the one afflicted can lead a good life.Excercise is very important. When they are taken to any hospital, make sure a family member is there to prevent any change in regular meds.
The sites posted below give good information. My husbands decline has happened because of failures of a doctor to take heed to my warning about an antibiotic.Good meds, excercise and stimulation play an important role.
