My mother has Lewy Body Disease, the second most common form of dementia after Alzheimer's. I've created a website about Lewy Body Disease and providing information about caregiving. The site is called Lewy Body Journal and can be found at http://www.lewybodyjournal.org.

Thank you so much for your post. My husband is suffering with advanced Parkinson's Disease. He is 55 years old, was diagnosed at 41 years and he sounds almost like a carbon copy of your Mom's symptoms. I was somewhat relieved to hear that your Mom suffers those perpiration episodes (Bob has told me that they are not painful, just very uncomfortable). Bob (my husband) can still communicate at times (often a slight whisper and I must put my ear practically to his lips), very sleepy too. Yes, he did suffer horrible paranoia years ago, I can't imagine how frightened he was when he thought his whole family (me and our daugther) were schemeing against him - he even thought that I may be having someone murder him, so very, very sad. Yes, the doctors belief much more is going on than only Parkinson's and the medication halucinations. Currently, living in a nursing home. I am on my way there now, Happy Holidays.

Asa, I just finished reading your account of mother and Lewey Body Disease. This is such informative and heart wrenching reading. My husband has parkinsons disease with many of the same symptoms and he takes the medicines you described and more. The requip is so important for the physical well being but too much can be very damging, mentally. At one time I thought my husband had symptoms of Lewey Body Disease.I brought the subject up to his physican and he looked at me so funny and had to think for a moment. He told me that I caused him to have egg all over his face as he had been out of med school for a while and had not though of it since. The symptoms are so similar. There is a very fine line in difference. When I see my mother and the short time in which her symptoms progressed and how her physical symptoms are as you described I begin to wonder.I was never successful in getting all the testing I wanted.Thank you so much or sharing. It was as though you were speaking of my husband and mother, more my husband.I do believe the physical symptoms progrees faster with Lewey body disease, or am I wrong. You have given others so much information and on hands observation.Thank you so much .I will read the other links that you have provided. My husband is on aricept, seroquel, requip, amantadine,carbidopa/levodapa.The slightest change in the medicne has shown to be harmful in one way or another.

Oh, the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person, having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all out, just as they are, chaff and grain together, certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keeping what is worth keeping, and with a breath of kindness blowing the rest away.
