Fil was transported home Thursday night. He arrived to the open arms of the Hospice nurse who welcomed us in as if she were the Angel God had sent to help us. We gathered around the bed, most of the family were there. The angel nurse, prayed with us, for us and for him. She sang sweet gospel hymns, all of us were crying and singing. We talked about the past, rememberances of things he liked to do, told stories that had originally been secrets, and shared with each other, the love he had for all of us, we also did a little laughing at each other and the things he had done and said. He swiftly slipped away at 9:30pm. We did not think it would last that long. The visitation is tonight, and the funeral is tomorrow. So many people have come by, brought food and plants and comforting company. It has meant the world to all of us!

This has been a long, suffering, sad journey. But now we know he is with his Lord, no more pain, his body and mind are whole again.

I just thought I was tired and exhausted before....now I know the real definition. Everyone is supporting us and helping us through this difficult time.

I thank you all, for every word written, every thought, and most important, every sweet prayer!!!

To those of you living this journey, I pray for your strength and stamina. Love them, touch them as much as you can. Tell them you are ok, and that it is ok for them to go. It is very comforting for them to hear that from their loved ones!!

BWB: Just now read about your fil. So sorry to read this news but how lucky your husband is to have the strong support in you that I'm sure has been immeasurable for him. The same applies to your son and mil and all of the family. Losing a parent is the most painful experience I've had to go through...still is. The final act of life...it stinks!

BWB, I am so sorry for your loss. I rejoice in knowing that your FIL is free of the broken body and mind that were keeping him down. I know your MIL is inconsolable, but please share our sympathies and words of consolation with her...

Wrap each other in the love and warmth that sustains your family and know you all remain close to my thoughts and prayers.

BWB, while you are fighting, you can ignore the pain and exhaustion somewhat, but when the fight is over, it all sets in it seems. Everything hurts, and your fight has been particularly brutal. I can only pray that you and yours can find healing with time and a moment of quiet. You and your husband have shown great strength through this, and that strength is still there.
All my love and prayers going out for you and yours, Bobcat

BWB,

Hugs and prayers go out to you during this difficult time. I just lost my mom last week and I cannot say enough good things about Hospice. One of the hospice nurses was humming Amazing Grace softly in the background as we gathered around mom.

Take comfort in the fact that your FIL is no longer suffering and please remember to take care of yourself.

BWB, how wonderful it must have been for your father in law's life to end surrounded by laughter, song, and love!
I'm sure he thought he heard angels long before he saw them.
Hugs to you and yours.
