Well my Mother Nadine died on August 20th of complications of Lewy Body Dementia. She was in the severe stage, and then fell resulting in multiple pelvic fractures. Once in bed she just slid into decline extremely fast. Within four days she was in hospice care and within a week she had passed away. When I call people to tell them, nobody has ever even heard of Lewy Body - so we are asking family and friends via the obit to donate to LBDA in lieu of flowers. Maybe they will get curious and read the website I refer to (www.lbda.org). And thanks to all of you for the support over the years. I am including a poem I found at random on the net. It touched me as being so meaningful for someone who passed from dementia,I am including it on my Mother's funeral service program. Here is is:
Memorywork By Jack Riemer and Sylvan D. Kamens In the rising of the sun and in its going down, we remember them. In the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter, we remember them. In the opening of the buds and in the rebirth of spring, we remember them. In the blueness of the sky and in the warmth of summer, we remember them. In the rustling of leaves and in the beauty of autumn, we remember them. In the beginning of the year and when it ends, we remember them. When we are weary and in need of strength, we remember them. When we are lost and sick at heart, we remember them. When we have joys we yearn to share, we remember them. So long as we live, they too shall live, for they are now a part of us, as we remember them. ~Hannah |

Hannah, I am so sorry.
May she rest in peace. Too many are not aware of LBD.To me that shows alack of continuing to keep doctors informed as well as hospital personal. The poem is beautiful. The words ring true. |
