Dad is having his foot amputated Thursday. He has no choice, the MRI showed infection to the ankle.
This story has mostly been posted in the Anger room. I am very tired mentally and physically, coming home from the hospital, and then having to deal with the drama in my every day life at home. I am on the verge of tears constantly, and hope I can be strong at the hospital, the last people I want to see me with tears is my brother and his wife. At the same time, it would be good for them to see the stress that has been heaped on my sister and I without their help. It won't change anything, so no need. I am off to meet with his DR., who knows when that will happen today. But, we need to make it happen. I will return to post when I am able. Hugs to all of my friends who are living the daily battle. One more thing, my Dad's mind has been very sharp, he is still working. I am concerned about the after effects of anesthesia on a 74 yr old man, one who has battled alcoholism for many years. That is a bridge we will cross another day. |

Blue, it was so good to hear that your Dad came through his surgery as well as could be hoped. With a good attitude and support he will be getting around better than ever real soon. You say he's got the attitude, and I know he has the support.
Bless you all. * the crystal ball (*) is in the shop>>>> |

Things have changed dramatically with my brother today. I spent the morning at the hospital with Dad, trying to make sure his spirits are up. He is sleeping a lot, I have not spoken to his Dr. as of this moment, they may be giving him something for anxiety.
My sister and I planned to leave our brother alone and it worked. He was at the hospital last night, and early this morning, which was a very long drive for him getting back to work. I spoke with him this afternoon, he had also called the two younger sister's and prepared them for what is to come. I am so happy that he has stepped up to help us out. The hard part is to come. I will see him and the sister's tomorrow at the hospital, all will go well with prayers. We have heard great reports on this surgeon and feel comfortable with him tomorrow, and the after care, he also has a wound care clinic, so we are in the right place. Thanks to all my girls here, who have been so loving and supportive. For the rest of the story, it is posted in the Anger room. BIG HUGE HUGS TO YOU ALL!!!! |
