Without warning, in the middle of cold January, the owner of our apartment building called on a Sunday afternoon and informed us that he had sold the building to the county which will be turning it into office space for law enforcement. With the absence of good, affordable housing in this small town, we started looking immediately and by Tuesday had signed a lease on a 14 by 70 mobile home. It was the last one aavailable in the park. Almost double the rent! But we are in and most essentials for homemaking in place after a hectic 5 weeks of packing and moving. 5 weeks of all work and no play. I thought I was going to lose my dh in the process, but he has rallied to the point where I would like to put him into suspended animation until I finish getting everything in place, which should take another week. I have tried to work in segments, like getting the cupboards organized, find storage for kitchen supplies, etc. In the middle of this he can come up with something he has to find and nothing will do but I stop everything and start tearing stuff apart. Things get moved from one room to another and back and back again. Bitches about the layout, which we can't do anything about. Some evenings I am so stressed out I want to cry. He will be 88 April 12, and gets more cantankerous by the day. Eating habits are changing, he puts chili powder on everything, potatoes, vegetables, etc. When I ask him what he wants for a meal, he just shrugs. Most days I don't ask, just go ahead and fix.
The only stress buster I have right now is my music and computer. My daughter's significant other did 4 disks of easy music for me, and they really help, but still need to focus on something else, too. As soon as everything is in place, I will pick up my beading and quilting again, and some cross stitch while watching TV. Right now I am too scattered to do any of it.
The good thing about the mobile home is that I can plant flowers in the spring, which I have really missed with apartment living. Surfing the net for iris, too many, too beautiful, too little budget. lol.
That move must have been quite a challenge! I know it takes a long time to get things where they will stay after a move. Sorry you had to suddenly uproot and move.
I love my flower gardening here. It helps me keep what sanity I have. I'm sure you'll love yours when the time comes!

That type of move, sudden and unwanted must have been awful. Hopefully it won't be much longer before you feel settled in. At 88 I can imagine that your husband is taking it badly. Just keep thinking about the flowers. I love zinnias, the old fashioned tall ones make such good cut flowers and the seeds aren't too expensive. Easy to start early in doors.
Bless your complete heart, Farmgirl!! What an undertaking for you to have to just up and MOVE!! I am so happy you could find something suitable and I hope AFTER some well-earned time of putting your feet up, you get to take advantage of the outdoor activities! Check eBay for plants - MANY are available for less money.
