Hello,

I am a university student who is interested in finding out how caregivers for older adults with depression or mental health issues manage stressors.
Also, what resources or services best assist you in caring for these loved ones? Is there anything that is not in place that would benefit you?
This information will be anonymously used in an informational brochure to assist others in your similar situation within the county I reside in.
Thank you for any suggestions or guidance.

Well, I wasn't going to post my entire life but I'm doing this beyond the role of a student. I am a caregiver in my actual life as well.
I am doing this assignment for "live" people who will benefit from the experiences I collect. I have interviewed first hand, but wanted the diversity the internet provided.
This is not a "routine" assignment. Part of the assignment involved actual face to face interviews. This was to add diversity. It is a community project to actually help people with coping, as well as provide resources beyond the computer.
I appreciate those who actually offered constructive advice to benefit those who will use my guide.

We have MANY requests such as yours...

While I appreciate the need to speak with people who are "walking the walk," please understand that our purpose is to support busy caregivers of elderly people, not to help with routine college homework assignments.

Your learning would be better served by personally interviewing people in your area - assisted living centers, elder activities via your local Council on Aging, Meals on Wheels volunteers, support groups, etc. are good places to find caregivers who may be willing to assist you.

While the internet is often turned to by modern students, the BEST way to learn is to FIRST read what's been already been written here (the site has a search tool) and interview people in person in your community. There's only so much you can learn from a monitor and a chair.

This IS by far the best resource available to hands on CG's because the medical community at large does not or cannot answer the questions that DO arise in this journey.
As MW here said quite well we come on this board for support virtual hugs etc because only another cg actually knows what this journey entails.

We come on this board and scream and holler and rant and rave and share lots of virtual hugs and get a beautiful amount of support in return.
We ask questions and get answers - sometimes flip, sometimes very serious.
Stick around a while - this will be a very valuable resource for you!
