I can already hear all the cruise wishes and spa vacations Roll Eyes Razz , but what I am asking is:
if a family member or friend WANTED to give you a gift that was something truly USEFUL and TREASURED for Christmas; that would help you with caregiving issues, etc., what would that be? (Seriously, now... no fair wishin' for family members having personality changes or world peace or anything...)

It would be ultra cool if we could actually come up with a list that we could print out and give to folks...hint, hint... Wink

Here's one of mine...

I would wish for laundry service. Pick up the baskets at the back door and return them with folded/hung clothes. I don't care if someone does it personally or employs a laundry service - I just want the stuff to disappear from the back door and come back all folded. Elves would be fine.

We will be having our family gathering the 23rd.Always a good time for all.Being I am feeling so much better I am hoping I am able to contibute more food for the event.
I am hoping we have it at my sons house as we did last year.My friend will stay with hubby and I will enjoy my self , more, being away from home and just looking after my needs for that period of time

My wish is for all of you to find some happiness this Christmas/Holiday season. I want you all to be able to enjoy some peace and have some fun. To really not have to worry for a little while about your l/o's. I also wish that families can get along and love each other. That's a small step towards world peace. If only we can get our families to love and respect us it would be a step. My wish would be for my family, brother, in-laws and their family to be able to sit down to a dinner and share the love of Christmas. I know this will not happen here but I am grateful that my son will not be working Christmas Day and we will sit and share Christmas dinner together and welcome any friends with open arms who wish to join us at any time.

Bunnys-GRL, I like the way you think.Do you think you could pass those thoughts through the air to a family member.
You know that song, Dream , Dream , Dream. But it had nothing to do with a car but we can make it fit.

T.O.R.P., it would be nice if the family member would give you this wish.I can feel your need in your words. How sad there are those who fail to realize those who would like to time to be free of the concerns of the afflicted, even for this one day.Any possibility of your putting a bug in their ear.Tell them how important it be for you to be free to spend realxing time with your immediate family
I so hope you get this well deserved and needed wish.

In a very real way, my Dad gave me the present of a life time before he died. He and Mom had both saved, been prudent financially all their lives. They set up their wills in such a way that was near genious. It also makes Bro and me work together.

I know it is probably to late for the person you are caring for to do this level of estate planning, But my wish for all of you is that you can take an opportunity to give a similar gift to your children. By protecting yourselves and spouses in this way, you will save your children a lot of grief, and in the future you will have things your way. Like my Mom.

To have someone do laundry and all the cooking. So I can sit down at a meal , taste the food and enjoy it.
To have someone here so I could spend time with my children in their home.
To have world peace for sure.
To find away to stop this great divide our country is experienceing.
That everyone has a warm home with food on the table.
They find a cure for all these awful diseases that are afflicing so many loved ones. That would be number one.
To see compasssion for our fellow man come to the forefront of priorities.
ONE MORE THING:my dentist gets my parial plate done so I do not have to ask Santa for my front tooth and chewing teeth.
I look like hehaw for sure

I found this post from last year and thought it would be interesting to bring up again this year.

I want my in-laws (husband's siblings) to take her for a few days. They live in another city a few hours away, and she hasn't spent a holiday with them in at least five years. They always decorate elaborately and really make a production of Christmas; I really don't, and wouldn't have time if I was so inclined.

PLUS it would give me a holiday that didn't involve the logistics of getting her back and forth, keeping up with her toileting, making certain that the dogs don't jump on her and knock her over, etc. I could relax and enjoy a Christmas with my children, while she gets to enjoy her other grandchildren whom she NEVER sees.

Some peace....first for my Mom
she had yet another trip to the hospital....#4 in 5 wks.
Some answers..not about the AD..I've wised up & realized there are none, but some for her other health issues.
After those answers, I'd like some resolve (no NOT the cleaner Wink)to these other health issues.
Some time alone with my husband (selfish here on this one)
A guarantee that the holidays will be wonderful happy days for Mom, with no upsets from the brothers grimm.
Last.....that every single person and their loved ones have some respite from the pain, whether physical or the pain in our hearts...we all deserve it!
Oh yeah....& I wish for snow on Christmas eve....just like when I was a kid. Wink

Farmgirl, wouldn't that be a little slice of heaven... except my place is so messy, I would have to clean up so the housekeeper wouldn't FIRE ME!!! Razz

A spa sounds good, BOH - a LOT better than an ER! And they make better beverages at spas... or so I hear. Never been to one, but it sounds like a great place to go to heal. Think I'll try it one of these days...

The caregiver pin is a super idea. We have some folks in Tulsa who make pins. I might get in touch with them. I think caregivers deserve some support and attention. I had a TIA yesterday and went to the emergency room. They were waiting on me hand and foot. I felt like a queen except for the little mini-stroke. I haven't felt like a queen for a long time. For Christmas,I'd like to feel like a queen for one whole day. Maybe I'll go to a spa.

I would wish for a weekly cleaning lady. I am trying to get ready for company next week and by the time I got the windows and screens washed, I am one throbbing pain. Now I look at the kitchen and wonder if I have the strength and stamina to finish the job along with getting my office turned into a temporary bedroom.
