Hi all you family members out there. Happy Boxing DayEekOOPS that was yesterday-the 26th EekI am having trouble dealing with this holiday season. Don't know if there is really something to worry about or if I am just feeling the pressure of the season, snow, changes(real or imagined)in Mike.
I am sick and tired of snow and ice. (I am sure Mike is totally stir crazy) We did sit out in the sun(jackets, hats etc.) on the front porch for a short while Christmas. We had planned to go out for lunch today but it snowed again last night-only acouple of inches this time. Today it was windy with a little rain. Mike is getting more and more reluctant to stand even to get to bed. I can get him up ok but just about had to use the hoyer tonight-don't want to as he needs the standing to keep his leg and hip from contracting more. At least we got through another Christmas but he seems to be losing some of his spark(I'm sure I would too after 11 years) I hate it when I get impatient or upset with him I try to explain that it is because I am worried and concerned. Having 4 days without help doesn't help. Thanks for listening-it helps even writing my feelings.

CoolWell things are gradually getting back to normsl. Our workers all made it this week. We got to PT, Dr, and I got some shopping done on Wed. I scared the daylights out of myself the other day. The bakery had been closed for a couple of weeks(mexico for holidays)I noticed they were open, went in, parked-I thought there was sand on the ice-it looked dirty-NOT-I took one step out and boom-my first fall this winter(I'm fine). It was so slippery it took me a min. to get up so I just got in and left-I'll wait awhile before going back. I should have realized that it was strange there were only 2 cars there. Fri. was the first day I took Sandy for a walk-it was too icy getting across the road. I had phoned and complained because they hadn't plowed or sanded the last 2 times it snowed.It was done shortly after-don't know if my call made any diff. Mike has to have a bunch more blood tests this week-the last ones showed he had a very low red count-he will also do a stool sample but there isn't any sign of bleeding. He is checking his B12 and iron as well as other things.Problem is Dr. is going on holidays for 3 weeks. We will see our old one a week Tues. Hope they find something that will give him a little more energy.
Pouring rain and wind today. Supposed to smarten up Mon. or Tues. Hope everyone else is getting reasonable weather.

I hope the workers are able to get here(and us to PT) tomorrow

Didn't happen. The am worker got here, I took Sandy for a walk while Mike had his shower. By the time we got back it was snowing-hard, huge wet flakes. I suggested the worker leave early as it was piling up. It quit by about noon but Mike's PT had already phoned to cancel-he will go Wed. or she will come out here.The respite worker did get here so I got out and picked up prescriptions(from 2 weeks ago that we will need starting Thurs.)and mailed our Christmas cards Eek. The supervisor phoned about 6 and asked if it was ok if the bedtime worker didn't come as it was freezing again-I am getting sick of this stuff. One good thing Mike did a really good job getting to bed-I made sure I made a big deal of his cooperation.It is a beautiful stary night hope tomorrow is sunny and thaws the ice.

Thanks all of you. We still haven't been out-yesterday and today there was ice on the ramp-figured there would be in places on the roads. We did sit outside on the porch for awhile today. Mike used to drink a little beer or cider but turns me down now-all he will drink is water. I hope the workers are able to get here(and us to PT) tomorrow. I just realized I have not been using the therapy lamp every day this fall/winter. I will start every day even clear ones.CoolHope all is well with this family.

Gypsy, MANY, MANY blessings to you and to Mike for all you have been through for so many years! Both of you are heroic in your efforts and love for one another! I hope the New Year will bring some more pleasant weather so that y'all can enjoy being outside a little more. {{{{HUGS}}}}

I'm glad you got to sit outside for a little bit on Chrstmas Day. Hope the weather is good enough for you both to welcome in the New Year the same way. And unless some medications prohibit it, a little orange juice never hurts either.
When my aunt & uncle were caring for Granny, he would fix himself a Screwdriver (vodka and orange juice) and ask Gran if she wanted one.
"Oh no," she would say, "it's way too early."
Maybe 15 or so minutes later he'd ask if she wanted a little vodka in her orange juice.
"Oh sure - that sounds like a good idea."
Yep, Granny was a pistol, up until her very last week.
You and Mike just hang in there, and hang on to each other. The shortest day has passed, a new year is just around the corner, and the snow WILL melt.
