Here's wishing everyone out there a most Happy Thanksgiving. Although some days it is hard to find something to be thankful for, upon reflection, I have an awful lot to be thankful for. First, a wonderful husband, even though today he is not feeling good and is crabby. But at least he's here. My brother, who is close by and will come at a moment's notice when I need him. Thanksgiving dinner at my brother's, I'll make the cranberry sauce. And a dear friend who called from Denver and said he would be here the afternoon before Thanksgiving. He will be a breath of fresh air for DH, and a shoulder if I need one to cry on. We have enough to meet our expenses and a few luxuries, like books for us to read, fabric for me to sew, and an occasional outing for breakfast. And our little canary, Sunny Boy, whose wonderful singing gives DH something to smile about. I hope that those of you who really are having bad times can find some little thing to be thankful for. If not, I give you my love and prayers.

Awwww, farmgirl - you put it ALL into perspective!
It's so easy to count up the challenges, we forget to give the same amount of energy and airplay to the blessings. I was planning a quiet Thanksgiving, but learned yesterday that my son's fiancee's mom is outta commission this year due to injury to her hip & neck from a fender-bender last week, soooooo.... now I am planning dinner for 10 instead of 5!! Better polish the silver... (moved up to #36 from #9376 on the "to Do" list...) This message has been edited. Last edited by: Moms_Buddy, "She ain't heavy; she's my mother." Dear farmgirl, I haven't seen you around in a while. It's so nice seeing you again.
My mother always used to say, "If you've got your health, you've got everything." How right she was. I've gained a lot though through this whole experience and mostly gratitude, and just an overall feeling of thanks to others for being in my life or for appearing in my life. I worked in the corporate world before caregiving and on the downside, which grabbed a hold of me more than the positive, was being a part of "chewing 'em up and spitting them out" attitude which I always struggled with, always hated and now, being on the more humble side of life and being a caregiver has, with all the struggles that go along with it, been the most profound, learning, humbling and rewarding experience I will always be grateful for going through. Happy Thanksgiving to you, hubby and to all your loved ones farmgirl. |
