1) Headache: For the last 3 months, Oma had been complaining about a headache that came and went. Because it was allergy season and Oma has a lot of allergies, we attributed the headache to allergies and sinuses.
2) Blurry Vision: It didn't seem that unusual for a 77 year old with bifocals. 3) Occasional dizziness/stumbling: Oma never sits still; she's constantly working. She works herself to the point of exhaustion before she'll take a rest. When we saw her stumble, we would say, "Oma, sit down and have a coffee break for a minute! You're exhausting yourself!" 4) Shaking Hands: Oma has anxiety and arthritis, both of which can make your hands shake. Her hands have been shaking as long as I can remember so it seemed normal to me, though my Auntie Carm assures me they weren't shaking thirty years ago. The shaking got worse over the years. |

Thanks for the list, Sis. What is significant here is that the symptoms you listed COULD be caused by any number of conditions. Any and all of them should have been reported to the doctor to check out. Sometimes, it's nothing; sometimes it's SOMETHING but it's always best to let the doctor and pros have a shot at making a diagnosis first before assuming it's not a more serious situation.
A little paranoia can be a healthy thing. "She ain't heavy; she's my mother." |
