Hello to all my helping friends!! I have been away for a few days enjoying my sweet 'lil grandboys!! We went to the zoo, and to an indoor waterpark!! OMGOSH, too many people on Spring Break, had fun anyway!!!
If there has been posted on this site, or if you can help me and others, by helping me get together a daily check-off type "To Do" list for day and night CG's, I would so appreciate it. I have some ideas, but I know those of you with experience, might have more ideas!?!?
Again, I thank you for your time, and helpfulness, I pray for all of you in the trenches, and your LO's!!
Blue Water Beach, Find out what their dutes they provide.Mom comes first , then have them do things for mom that benefit her and you.Make the most of her time.If you have certain things for a certain day write a schedule for her. Just maybe , a few times you may want to have an unexpected check in.Sometimes when the cats away the mouse will play. Also , will she bring her own lunch and liquids.Does she break for lunch. Are their rules for her using the phone.Give quality time to the afflicted .

I am not a good record keeper myself, I am a procrastinator, and a darned good one if I say so myself.
I was looking for an idea of what types of chores, the CG is supossed to do, as opposed to what they do not do. After reading these wonderful responses, I have decided that I need to speak to the agency, and go by what they tell their employees. Just because they give a list of "to do's" to them, does not mean they get done, that is one thing I DO KNOW.
I am impressed by so much everyone is able to do.I am very organized in most areas but filing and record is never been one. I kept telling my self age makes you more organized.Well, age has not done such for me.I think good recorsd are the greatest help for all concerned.I may start out with good intentions in that area but never follow through. Not self desciplined in that area.I suffer in the end as I can never find a paper or information when I need it.

I also use the notebook. It contains dated medicine lists and any communications needed between family and CG.
One thing I've noticed is that any and all instructions need to be written in an almost elementary way or there is confusion for some reason.
An easy way is to number each item and use as few words as possible but make each entry very clear.
Beside that is a grocery/supply list so that anyone in the household can write down something we're getting low on. Helps a lot.
A large calender is hung in the same area where the lists and notes are. If a RN or aide comes, it's noted on the calender as well as when they are due to come again.
A jar of pens, pencils and markers is also kept right with everything else.
All important phone numbers are by the phone as well as taped to the fridge.
I made some index cards with very large names and numbers written in heavy marker for Granny to use when she's up to it. Gives her a little independence. She doesn't have to ask anyone to look up a number for her.
Please don't be too impressed with the accounts. If I lived with her probably noting would get written down. Alot of what I described is simply to keep the CG on duty from having to call me all the time about stuff, and the most important issue in the log is(you guessed it) the occurrence of BMs. For me in this situation, it just helps me to protect my "off" time. Well with 4 of us in and out, it just helps keep up communications while minimizing overlap in schedules and as I said, reduce the need for phone calls when a CG should be off duty, I try so hard not to bother them on their own time because I know what my time means to me. Usually the days notes are less than 1/2 a page and the book stays on the kitchen counter smack in the way. Can't really forget it.
So great you got to take the Boys to the zoo. We have some small scale efforts in the area, Not so small scale really, great efforts to highlight native wild life and local eco systems. And one with exotics. Marvelous time to be had. So glad you got that kind of break, you earned it if anyone did.
Oh gosh, BWB, No comparison to the situation with you FIL, but I try each day to stock up all supplies needed so they are at hand and no one has to hunt for anything, Gloves, wipes, Febreeze, chucks (disposable bed pads). Make sure the meds are set up in advance in an easy to use format. I leave a schedule posted on a bullitin board, and I leave a note book(school type) to serve as a continuous log for all CGs to sign in, and write down the following of the routine, and any difficulties at each stage. It also gives me a place to log her appointments and what was said by DOC. Love the note book. I can go back five years if I have to to find the beginning of a symptom. Even log in the death of a Betta and the purchase of a new one. The notes are the best for me. I also have a private one where I make notations of conversations with CGs. Difficulties I have with them, what was said, the resolution and visa versa. That way if I have to address the same issue again, I've got a date and details to come up with. That book stays with me, not at Mom's, if the issue is serious, I write in it in front of them and have them initial the entry. This includes if they get an advance on thier pay, or any other such matters. Love a notebook.
