talk the talk & walk the walk...
So the last 2 days have been a tightrope walk for me, for those who dont know I work in Home Healthcare.
For those of you who have heard us say things like, if a caregiver who comes in your home is abusive etc., fire them....
There is NO PLACE in this job for cg's to be discussing their personal sex life or personal financial matters, its out of line
*hmmm should I be on the anger wall?*
Well no. Im upset simply because I hate losing respect for another human being in this field but I want everyone to know not all people who work for agencies cotton to this type of behavior.
I just spent 2 days with a coworker (my first time with them) who was ok the first day....
The second day however threw me, this person is for all intense purposes an intelligent human being (I thought) and there they go taking personal phone calls and text messages and speaking in front of the patient in a sexually explicit manner I dont even approve of now Im no prude I can joke with the best of um *have you heard cop humor?! But what this person was saying was WAAAY out of line also this person makes the patient feel guilty for going into the hospital simply because it put them behind on their bills....
Hmmmm talk about a set of cajones on this person!
And when I walk into the room at times it feels almost as if Im intruding on a personal moment. Red Face
Ok buddy now ya gone over the line....so here I go today straight to the office and in private report this person for abusive behavior.
Yup I did. Wink
Whenever we speak on the issues of home health and inappropriate behavior I want everyone to know not all healthcare workers keep silent.
Now I may be in the dog house but you know what I dont give a rats a$$ if my co workers dont like me, what I do care about however is that the patients and their families have trust in me when I walk in that door.
Ill be damned if I let one person make me look as if I have no conscience, integrity or morals.....

Good for you for speaking up in this way. I am so glad our regular workers are all so fantastic. (sounds like you would fit right in) Gypsy

People SHOULD follow their values more and step up. Funny thing - seems like the folks who get the rewards are the ones who are sly and walk all around what's right... but that's no excuse not to fight the good fight and yell "PHEEEWEEEEEE!!!" when someone throws a rotten mackerel at your feet!! Even when we are not in a position to DO anything, we CAN voice our objections. Who knows - maybe ethics might catch on again... Ya think? Wink

'Course that wouldn't change the fact that there seems to be an overabundance of folks who lack plain ol' common sense and manners!! Wink Razz
