Effie Leland Wilder has written several short novels, starting with "Out to pasture (but not over the hill)" published in 1995,by Guideposts, based on her experiences in a retirement community.
Her books were on the library shelf the other day and caught my attention like they never would have when first printed. Why is a no brainer. For those seeking insight into this time of life, and maybe a few conversation starters, I recommend her work. It's gentle, funny, and very real. My Mom liked her jokes, they are of her time. I'm going to look for copies of my own so that I can read parts to her at times, at leisure. It helped me to have more patience about her frustration at her dwindling Christmas card list. 2 years ago 50, then 45, this past year 40. Next year, who knows. Again, I recommend this lady's books if you can find them and are caring for an aging loved one. Anyone else out there read them and care to comment? Love to have feed back.
