I grieve today, I went to VPI&SU, both brothers, my father, several uncles, many cousins and recently my niece.
This is the War Memorial at night. There is a chapel under it. When I was a student there, the chapel was never locked. The openess of our universities will change now. I grieve for that as well as the loss of these children. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Bobcat, * the crystal ball (*) is in the shop>>>> |

He had been prescribed antidepressants, according to sources. wether he took them and then became violent, ala, Columbine or if he would not take his meds, and became violent, remains to be seen. It is apparent that he has sought treatment. Clearly, it was not successful.

BobCat, listening to the news I heard there were serious concerns about the young man who did the shooting.Seems he showed great anger, depression and a tendency to turn to violence.

Mae, thank you so much for the response, As far as I know, no state reguires citizenship to purchase guns, only residency. And if a person is taking anti- depressants,as it is reported that this man was, all states consider that patient confideintiality, unless the court orders so. Only then is it on record as a mental disability, that would show up in a check. I hate the fact that I feel I must have a gun. And I certainly don't want unqualified persons to pack them.
It is a fact that when VA loosened its criteria for the private carry permit, personal crimes dropped dramatically, especially crimes against women. Perps no longer assumed that a subject was defensless. It is a terrible situation when the only deterent for criminal activity is for the perpetrator to believe a potential victim can and will defend his/her self. This message has been edited. Bobcat, I so understand your emotions. These besutiful people had their lives takem from someone that needed to take his anger, hate on the innocent. So many have felt this loss.Beautiful people who were placed in such a vunerable way.
Evidently this person that chose to destroy so many lives did some writting a few years back that were controversal. To me this was a selfish act on his part.He played god instead of seeking help for his emotional problems. He pppppput these people in a place of fear that we could never imagine. To me he was a coward.Anyone who walks into a place with 2 guns does not give his victims a chance or choice. He controled their lives but could control his mind. The emotions will not go away any time soon. How does one person feel he has the pwer to take anothers life?I can never understand. If he wanted attention, he got it , in the most negative way. I understand he just got the one gun last friday. Also Virginia has the most easy gun laws. Too bad he is not able to feel the pain caused. My heart goes out to all those who were affected by this travisty. |
