1,2,3,4, Hey I musta been half asleep Red Face
Sorry dear I didnt see the additional pages hey now that was a pretty interesting read...cant wait to see more on this.
But I hafta say Im still on the fence Iv seen what a proper diet does for type II diabetes getting rid of processed foods, sweeteners, etc.
BUT I can see if someone who is unfortunately prone to diabetes like type I this will probably help them out tremendously...
Ill keep reading on cause this is interesting I have a fascination with this issue/disease thanks to MIL and H Wink

Read the followups, BG. The doc who noticed the association did experiments on non-obese rats wiht type II diabetes and discovered the diabetes disappeared when the duodenum was bypassed. There have been studies done (and ongoing elsewhere since this is not allowed in the US) on people whose weight is normal, but have diabetes type II. I hope that the duodenal bypass will be allowed for non-morbidly obese sufferers of type II diabetes, at least for testing purposes and that this will spark much more research into what's happening in the duodenum that has an effect on diabetes. Could be an important breakthrough in this form of the disease. Wink

May I say interesting article MB but can I throw something out there to debate on???
Dont these people have to go on a diet of sorts to prove that this is not a waste of time and that they are genuinely going to follow a program in order to have this surgery preformed? And after the surgery their uptake of food is diminished so wouldnt it be plausible if they werent eating copious amounts of food (and bad foods I might add) that their BS levels would go down to minimal readings?
Just a thought.

The Cancer now thats a different matter....
