I have taken the leap back into reality. The time has come for me to rejoin the world, put myself out there.

I have taken a job in a new candy/ice cream shoppe opening up near me, I sent my resume on a whim - kind of felt like I needed something to get me out of the house and give me a chance to be around people. As much as I love my family - they all have full, busy lives and mine was all about caregiving for so long.

I knew I didn't want a high pressure job, or even a full time one, but I did know I wanted to get out, earn a bit of mad money to finance my hobbies --- or should I call them addictions Wink and have something to call my own.

So, starting next week I shall be meeting some new people out there in the real world, inhaling chocolate fumes, and pulling in a paycheque.

OCSurfCity, I too did a collage for my mothers funeral. It is quite common today. It was quite a drawing point for family members who were able to view pictures from their younger years. We also had one for my aunt.

Angel, I know how you are feeling. Once you are relieved of your 'duties' you will have a lot of time on your hands.

I now have more compassion for the elderly than I did 5+ years ago.

That's not strange OC...what may be strange is that I sometimes cant wait till i can post in this section!!!!!!!!!! To have a life again referring to "after caregiving" seems like a fantasy now. I know it sounds mean, but its one of those days Roll Eyes

OC, you are very wise and I am taking notes from you and others who have walked this stretch of road before me. One day, I'll be in your shoes and I hope I can deal with that period of life as wisely and gracefully as you and others have done (are doing). Thanks so much for sharing! Smile

I am a freelance photographer and have all my weekends booked for weddings. I shoot mostly professional and youth sports. I just have to shoot two wedding per week and I do not have to work the rest of the week! But I do work on the images before i send them to the printers.

But do go out and get some fresh air and put your mind at ease. We former caregivers need and deserve that break.

LORRAINE!!!!!! Smile

How's the job coming along?

Hope it's giving you some pocket change to enable you to feel you have YOUR money again. That was always important to me, for some reason.

A part-time job? I've been toying with that thought. Not yet, mind you. After all, I do need some recuperation time from the past 6-1/2 months! Big Grin I just miss being "around people" ... wouldn't want to work in an office, though. (I have SO !!! put in my time in offices!) Frown An ice cream shoppe sounds fantastic!

Let us know how it's going when you get a chance.

Congrats on the new job Boots. I'm more than likely going to be job hunting too soon- mostly cause I"m going broke quickly. Frown I'd ask you for a job,but I'm not sure if gaining 100 pounds for a paycheck is a trade-off I"m willing to make. Roll Eyes Razz You obviously have much more willpower than me! Big Grin

Good Evening:

Glad to hear about your job. I hope you not tempted by the goodies.

I must say I really enjoyed all your pictures the Garden looks lovely. A lot of work went into that.It looks like you had the reception outside. I hope you had the reception catered. After all the work you did this summer it will take you a while to settle down. You are still a very young person, I don,t know why but I thought you were older. Still a long way to go.

Hope your family here in Ontario is okay. I still have the name to look up, but just never think about it. I have to get a Mississauga Phone book. I thought for sure they would have one at the AD Society but no go.

Hope all is well I have to email my 2 G,Daughters [sisters] that go to University in Nova Scotia. oldest Carly at Acadia [Wolfville], 3 rd yr, Kristi ist yr at St Mary,s [ Halifax]

Take Care
