Thanks for the good wishes for my birthday..., and Hap, you are right, the fireworks displays is a highlight in all my birthdays.

Last night was beautiful. The night was clear and shhhh, don't tell those buried in snow, it was 79F. All years the noise of the fireworks waked my H up but not this time and I didn't called him. Don't think he would enjoy anything been sleepy. Wait until the arrival of New year at NY and the east coast and then went to bed.

Hope all of you had a wonderful evening...., and I am sending a big hug in this first day of the 2008 to all my dear friends in this Forum. May we keep our friendship for years to come.

I"m back to guys. We'll just have to wait to see what happens now. I missed those of you that I couldn't reach and wondered how you were doing?
Mae, You have to take care of yourself. Stress can make a cold last longer. I worry about you.
To all my family here....a healthy new year to you all.

Hi Gypsy, glad you are back too!!!

I am a lucky girl this year... A respite from last year when I didn't found help to go out even on my birthday and needed to stay home alone for Christmas and New Year too. This time I asked one of the aides to give me the birthday present of coming on Monday and after almost begging her she agreed. I will pay her the day as usual, the problem was that no one want's to work on holidays.
Then, one of the aides intruced me a friend who was caring for a baby but luckly, the baby returned home for Christmas and she was waiting for a new assigment. She came twice this week Big Grin so I did my hair and brought the Wise Men Day presents. (Didn't had time for that before Christmas. Glad that we have 2 days to give presents.)

My husband wasn't too happy with this new face. Told her to keep herself safe, just feed him and keep his area clean. It worked out fine.

No help Christmas or Boxing Day(oops most of you don't get it so sorry Big Grin)Our weather is yuck-rain, slush-apparently snow at higher elevations. A little sun-think that was yesterday. Have to go shopping tomorrow(Mike is almost out of depends)Great to see so many back so quickly. Mae so sorry you have a cold-or is it stress related? Gypsy

I am happy for everyone.
Hopefully I will be able to put those dancing bananas up in a post .All depends on hubbies recovery.
I am still dealing with this horrible cold.
First one in years.Making up for lost time.Maybe a little ginger brandy would do the trick.Happy New year to everyone

Diana T. Eve...??? I was joking, not expecting a gift like that!
Thank's Hap...
Of course I will accept cheescake too.
This morning I was in the "sugar feeling"and cook a big bowl of "majarete" wich is a Christmas goodie: the base is pulverized rice with coconut milk, condensed and regular milk, sweet spices (cinnamon, vanilla, anise...) Isn't that difficult to prepare but you need an hour stirring the thing in low heat.
Then went to my hometown to visit my Mom's godmother who celebrated her 105 birthday this month and her memory is better than mine. She was really happy with our visit and I am glad I did the trip.

I am so happy to be here today that I am starting my birthday party early! Well, the truth is that I will have so many years that need a whole week celebration! Big Grin

Naaahhh, is just that I love cake and found a great excuse to eat cake from today until Monday without guilty feelings! All of you are invited, just bring cake, chocolate cake, vanilla cake, ice cream cake, all are welcome...

hi everyone. it is so good to see you. i have been worried about everyone. please take time to update us. maybe we need an update thread. our situations can change so quickly as caregivers. my prayers have always been with each and everyone of you. daisy has slipped a bit more in her memory but her health is as good as always. she's very slow moving but no problems. she can still understand and respond to everything i say or ask of her but only in the second. her verbal responses are pretty much word salad or alphabet soup, long sentences and explanations of nothing. i can still make her laugh or at least chuckle but it is getting harder. she sleeps a lot more but my body is still on the red alert mode to hear the squeak in her door. i honestly think that although she has no health problems, unless one considers old as a health problem, and a bit of high blood pressure controlled by meds, i think she will probably just pass some day in her sleep from old parts. again, i ramble. good to see you and everyone have a happy new year. no resolutions for me, i love my low standards just how they are, i can never be disappointed. no use setting myself up for failure, if i had intended to change i would have done so by now. failed resolutions just lower my self esteem!hang in there everybody and take care. you are all ok by me.
