I am not gonna *rave, cuss, fuss* ummm, I mean, talk about how much consternation this issue has been causing me for almost the past week! Especially since I have been and installing/tweaking a new Windows Vista system for a client all week since this started and I haven't had time/brains to intelligently troubleshoot this issue at home...

After virus and spyware and adware and everything scanning my computer for days, thinking I had a virus that was causing Zone Alarm to block attempts to access the internet, I FINALLY (DUH!!! ) thought about visiting their site to see if anyone else had reported a problem... Lo and BEHOLD... I just reinstalled ZA from the updated version (available at the link above) and...
PRESTO, CHANGO, ABRACADABRA, SHAZAAM!!! Everything is fine again...
In case anyone else is having this issue and surfing "naked," - just upgrade to the latest Zone Alarm and things should all be better.

If you are having this problem since last week but are NOT using Zone Alarm as your firewall, check on the website for what you ARE using to see if the Windows XP SP3 update caused your program to have this same issue. If so, they'll have a workaround, patch, update, etc.
