Teach us...
To give and not count the cost;
To fight and not to heed the wounds;
To toil and not to seek for rest...

— St. Ignatius Loyola

"Laughter and tears are both responses to frustration and exhaustion. I myself prefer to laugh, since there is less cleaning up to do afterward."

How about a new twist on the old "Cogito, ergo sum" -“I think; therefore I am” quote from Descartes.

I care. I give; therefore I am a caregiver.

Bobcat---I didn't think anyone read Heraclitus nowadays. I've always enjoyed this poem by William Johnson Corey.

Heraclitus

They told me, Heraclitus, they told me you were dead,
They brought me bitter news to hear and bitter tears to shed.
I wept, as I remembered, how often you and I
Had tired the sun with talking and sent him down the sky.

And now that thou art lying, my dear old Carian guest,
A handful of grey ashes, long long ago at rest,
Still are thy pleasant voices, thy nightingales, awake;
For Death, he taketh all away, but them he cannot take.

I about fell over when I saw a quote of Kilgore Trout
"The universe is a big place, perhaps the biggest."
Kilgore Trout is a fictional character of Kurt Vonnegut, one of my favorite authors.

No , it is not a profound statement, but I was sure glad to see my old friend Kilgore Trout was around somewhere.

"It is not good for all your wishes to be fulfilled:
Through sickness you recognize the value of health,
Through evil, the value of good,
Through hunger, satisfaction,
Trough exertion, the value of rest."

- Heraclitus

We CGs sure do know a lot about value.

and another.

You are as young as your faith, as old as your doubt; as young as your self-confidence, as old as your fear; as young as your hope, as old as your despair.
-General Douglas MacArthur
