first off i am finally getting paid for taking care of grandma, however this comes only weeks before i move out. also because the dr didnt get the forms in until sept 22 i only get back pay from then on, but i m upset but i dunno apparently the state of michigan feels that care givers only deserve $8 an hour and although i am suppose to live here, i can only get paid for the time it takes to fill her pills and things like that which they figured would only be about 40 hours a month.
on another note we have been trying to get grandma to give up driving, she is very resistant, but paperwork was filed and grandma had to go take a driving test today, she would not let me come with but once she got back i found a paper with her results- she missed10 out of 20 on the written exam, failed to yeild the right of way, didnt use blinker, didnt use the left turn lane at an intersection. she did all these things wrong and the state of michigan did not fully suspend her lisense, she is aloud to drive with in a 4 mile radius so she can do things she needs to do with in that 4 mile radius there are 2 elementry schools and numerous parks not to mention there are also many children that live in her area. but i feel i have done all i can, i hope and pray she doesnt get into an accident and hurt someone but it is out of my hands now

I can understand them giving her an opportunity to retest, but MOST accidents occur right around home, for goodness sakes!! Makes you wonder if the State of Michigan has taken a look at accident statistics... You can only do what you can do... If unwise decisions are made, either by family OR by the state, there's nothing you can do about it even if you KNOW they are wrong!
That's one of the lessons you have learned while caring for your Gramma (to which I referred in another post) - how unfair and STUPID people in charge can be and how little control we have over many important things in life! Despite that fact, we all have to go on with our lives.
***sigh***
Sometimes, issues like this turn normal people into crusaders for important changes.

i talked to my mom about this some more today and she is writing a letter to the state of michigans DMV about this just because it doesnt make sense, like youve said most accidents happen around near your home
Hun, you fought well, you done good. Sometimes the outcome is lousy anyway. Many states do have some form of restricted license for people with some "disability". Here it usually includes a "time of day" limitation. Daylight, no rush hours, no highway/interstate. Then they think, well the oldster won't get lost, be familiar with the traffic pattern, fewer cars on the road, lower speed.... (flipside,,pass more schools, playgrounds, have more stoplights, traffic signs).
I hope your Mother has good results from her effort. Make sure if you go to visit, you don't enter the 4 mile radius until you are certain Granny is not behind the wheel.
You are a very astute and sensitive young woman. Please stop by often. Let us know how you are doing, how school is going, please.
ok i think i posted this somewhere else to but idk my moms letter got to where it needed to go anyway they are refiling my grandmas stuff and she will be recieving another letter saying she has to be reexamined again, and the guy that passed her is being investigated because he passed her, when i find out more i will make an update
