As of last year I became Payee Representative for my Dad's account. He had been taking money out of his account in large amounts so that I wouldn't have access to it and even though I became the only one who was supposed to be able to access the money (the account still has his name on it also) occasionally the tellers would give him some money out of it. I would take large amounts of money out of it so that he wouldn't be able to access the account. Most of what I've spent on him as been through cash and what we've charged him in room and board. I also am taking care of him, washing clothes, taking him where he needs to go, putting up with his arguments and delirums. What should I put on the Representative Payee Report as what I've charged for taking care of him, not counting room and board? Also, he's well taken care of, all his needs are being meant, despite what he might or might not tell someone (there is always something missing or wrong with his paranoid life). Has anyone ever had any problems with filling out this form wrong and had Social Security contact them, ie wrong answers, or no savings accounts, etc?
This is a new one for me. Is this report a Form that you have to fill out?You might be able to work around it by finding the starting balance of the bank account, adding any deposits, and subtracting the current balance to get the amount you've withdrawn/spent for the time period. Then just divide it into reasonable amounts for the lines like Room & Board, Transportation charges, etc. Does the form (like all official government forms) come with instructions? I'm dreading Income Tax time, but that sounds like it will be a lot easier than what you have to do. Good Luck.
Yes, it has instruction, typical govt stuff. Just dealing withe the government always makes me nervous. I guess my father's paranoidness (is that a word?) is rubbing off on me. He gets only a little over $900 a month in Social Security and when I take out room and board there's not a lot left. Does anyone know how much would be standard to take out as pay for the caregiver and all the chauffeuring, gas, etc they should get per month? Actually, no matter what the amount is it's not enough (laugh). Just putting up with the accusations, paranoia and delusions is enough to think that whatever it is it's not going to be enough
