We often talk about the problems with Wills and Living Wills and Power of Attorney and Funeral Arrangements on here in regards to our loved ones. We talk a lot about the problems we face when our loved ones have NOT made arrangements.
I'm very curious, with everything we know, how many caregivers on here have made arrangements for themselves! We all know how suddenly circumstances can change. Have you prepared a POA for yourself, or written a will, or pre-arranged your own funeral? Knowing what we know about the difficulties we face, have you made any preparations to instruct your own kids someday? I'll tell ya right now I haven't prepared a damn thing. I'm 27 and don't have any kids yet, but that's really no excuse. Crap can happen to anyone anytime. |

SA as a matter of fact I have....The same day I prepared papers for my MIL I prepared both my hunny's and mine, mine took a few extra days only because hunny happens to have the same dang malady as my in laws had, he dont wanna talk about it.
I am matter of fact. I asked him straight out to be my DPOA and he refused so after some thought I called my best friend up and asked her in the event something happens to me would she please step in. I know we think alike so it wasnt a stretch for me to ask her this favor. Its just planning theres nothing to be afraid of. The program I used is by Suze Orman its a CD will and trust kit thats legal in the US maybe you have something like this in Canada check out book stores and see if they have anything like that. I found this is much easier to deal with than going to a Lawyers office. All you need to do after that is get them notarized. ********************************************** Well, butter my butt and call me a biscuit. |

I feel really bad about this, but I am 55, H is 56, we haven't done hardly a thing. When we bought our home, we were careful to have the title drawn up so that either of us was the owner if there were only one of us. We have each other as primary beneficiaries and or nieces as equal secondaries.
We have each stated that there is no sense in buying a plot, as there are no children who would want a place to visit. Cremation, done and over. So it is not all up in the air, but there is a lot unsettled. Darn ,,, and my Dad was so good at all this. Every I dotted, every T crossed. That is how I want to do it too, I have some homework to do. * the crystal ball (*) is in the shop>>>> |

I spent $400.00 on my mother's legal fees for her will, etc. I'm assuming it would cost the same for me. There's no such thing as a two for one. I'm interested in leaving something for the care of my dog. Obviously, if something happend to me, my mother would have to be moved into a facility. I would not want to leave my dog to any of my family. I was looking into leaving a trust to the same rescue group that I got my dog from. You can't leave money to your pet so it has to be a trust.
