My uncle needs to transfer from the hospital to a SNF this week. However, when the nursing home learned that he takes Casodex, which is not covered by Medicare, they refused.
My aunt is able to purchase the Casodex at a discount through a program from Astra Zenica. We offered to bring the Casodex to the nursing home but was told that it was illegal. Does anyone know of a way to get around this illegality? |

I am in a bit of a rush at the moment and not thinking it all the way through, but if the script is legal and the drug can be paid for, it seems like it is the delivery of the drug to the SNF that has them hijacked.
I think that talking with the case manager at Astra-Zenica would be the best way to find a solution. Surely this has happened before. I hope some one else knows more will tune in soon. * the crystal ball (*) is in the shop>>>> |

Uh I would call your states Ombudsman on this matter sweetie.
It is illegal to bring in meds from outside to any facility, they have to be from their pharmacy with the patients name on the label to be administered by the LVN on staff. I dont understand why they cant order the drug and bill you though? ********************************************** Well, butter my butt and call me a biscuit. |
